Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time to visit Brisbane?

Brisbane is a fantastic destination year-round thanks to its subtropical climate, but this does mean it can get pretty hot in the summer! For the best weather and fewer crowds, we suggest visiting during the spring (September to November) or autumn (March to May).

Can I swim in the Brisbane River?

No, swimming in the Brisbane River is not permitted for health and safety reasons. However, you can go kayaking or hop on a river cruise instead, and if you really want to cool off, Streets Beach in South Bank is just the ticket! This man-made beach is patrolled by qualified lifeguards and boasts crystal-clear waters and fantastic city views.

How do I get around Brisbane?

Brisbane has a great public transport system including buses, trains, and ferries. You can also explore the city by bike with the city’s bike-share program or simply explore Brisbane’s vibrant neighbourhoods on foot.

How much time should I spend in Brisbane?

We recommend spending at least 3 to 4 days in Brisbane to fully enjoy the city’s many attractions and activities. If you have more time, we’d also recommend taking some day trips to nearby destinations like Moreton Island or the Sunshine Coast.
