This tour gives you the opportunity to dive in some of Australia’s most beautiful waterfalls, hike through monsoon forests and camp out under the stars. Come face to face with the giant Saltwater crocodile and uncover the fascinating history of Australia’s beautiful Top End on this 3 day camping safari through Kakadu and Arnhem Land National Parks.

Day 1: Kakadu National Park, Wildlife and Crocodile Cruise, Marrakai Floodplains and Ubirr Rock

We start our journey through the Aussie outback with an early pick up from your Darwin accommodation. Relax, sit back and enjoy the scenic drive as we head to Adelaide River to embark on an incredible wildlife cruise. Witness the giant Saltwater crocodile in its natural habitat, check out flying foxes and giant birds of prey, scan the riverbanks for local wildlife and relax as the world passes you by.

We continue our adventure to Kakadu National Park with a beautiful drive across the Marrakai floodplains. This afternoon we check out Ubirr, a fascinating Aboriginal site with ancient rock paintings dating back over 20,000 years. Soak up the scenery on a climb up to the rocky outcrop and be rewarded with panoramas of the Arnhem Land sandstone plateau and sweeping views of the entire national park. As night falls, we head back to our campsite to cook dinner over the fire and share stories under the stars.

Day 2: Twin Falls, Jim Jim Falls, Budjimi Lookout and Arnhemland Escarpment

Today we're going off-road as we set out through the jungle on our way to the spectacular cascading Twin Falls. We cross over Jim Jim Creek and cruise through the Twin Falls gorge, admiring the towering cliffs, ancient rock and impressive waterfalls. Take the escarpment walk to the top of the falls for a swim in away from the crowds or take a dip in the turquoise plunge pool.

Climbing back into the 4x4, we journey on through the rainforest to the Budjimi lookout, where we enjoy sweeping views across the ancient Arnhem Land escarpment. We trek through vine forests and rocky outcrops to the 150 metre-high Jim Jim Falls, the iconic image of Kakadu National Park. Enjoy an invigorating swim in the cool blue waters and marvel at the spectacular waterfall. After dark, we head back to our campsite at Garnamarr, at the base of the escarpment. Feast on a traditional Aussie BBQ with crocodile, buffalo, and kangaroo and enjoy a late night camping under the stars.

Day 3: Warradjan Cultural Centre, Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) and Jabiru

It’s another early start with a visit to the Warradjan Cultural Centre to learn more about the local Aboriginal people of Kakadu National Park. The oldest living culture in the world, the Aborigines have been living in the Northern Territory for over 50,000 years. The Cultural Centre provides a unique insight into the history of the Aboriginals and their connection with Kakadu and Arnhem Land National Parks.

That afternoon we climb back in the 4x4s and make our way to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge). Follow the path to the falls through towering paperback forests and across a dry and rocky landscape, crisscrossing the creek and clambering over boulders until we reach Maguk falls. Snap some pictures, cool off in the blue waters, get your aching muscles massaged by the waterfall and enjoy the incredible views from the top.

After a refreshing swim in a plunge pool and an afternoon relaxing in one of the most beautiful spots in Kakadu National Park, we head onto our special accommodation at  Aurora Kakadu Lodge. This resort-style caravan park is a haven in the jungle. With a magnificent lagoon style pool surrounded by lush tropical gardens and a poolside bar & bistro you'll feel truly spoiled! Enjoy a complimentary dinner, good night’s sleep in a traditional Australian swag and breakfast at this luxury outback experience! Just be sure you bring a flashlight as there is no electricity.

Day 4: Aboriginal Lands at Arnhem Land National Park, Injalak Hill, Injalak Art & Craft Centre, Arnhem Land Valley & Wetlands, and Darwin

Our last day is definitely the most unforgettable, with a visit to the sacred Aboriginal Lands in Arnhem Land. We have special permits to access this restricted area and friendly, informative Aboriginal guides who will take us to the rock art at Injalak Hill (Long Tom Dreaming). View some of the oldest rock art in the world, with paintings dating back nearly 20,000 years! Injalak Hill is famous for having some of the best examples of rock art in the Northern Territory, even Australia.

Walk in the footsteps of our ancient forefathers and climb to the top of the nearby escarpment to enjoy sweeping panoramas of both National Parks and floodplains disappearing off into the distance.

After lunch, we drop off our Aboriginal guides at the Injalak Art & Craft Centre. Take the opportunity to check out the selection of local handicrafts and fine arts with a chance to give back to this great non-profit Aboriginal organisation. With a fascinating history, no tourists and stunning scenery, Arnhem Land National Park is a beautiful place to end our 4 day Outback adventure.

That afternoon we are privileged enough to visit Arnhem Land Valley. Enjoy views of billabongs, birds and loads of Aussie wildlife as you experience this untouched haven hidden away in the middle of the Northern Territory. As the light fades, we get back in our comfortable 4x4s to enjoy the scenic drive back to Darwin, where we are due to arrive back in around 7pm.
