Itinerary
Day 1: Darwin to Kakadu National Park, via Adelaide River, Burrunggi (Nourlangie Rock) and Ikoymarrwa
It's a bright and early start, with pick up from your Darwin accommodation at 7 am. Relax and enjoy the scenic drive out to Kakadu National Park, stopping en route at Adelaide River for an incredible Jumping Crocodile Cruise. Come face to face with one of the world’s deadliest creatures as you cruise through croc-infested waters on a private boat. Keep your cameras at the ready to capture these magnificent prehistoric beasts as they leap out of the water and watch in awe as some of Australia’s biggest and most beautiful birds of prey swoop down to get in on the action.
Next up, it’s time to head to the incredible Kakadu National Park. Your first stop is Burunggi, where you will uncover the secrets of the past. This unique site is home to some of the world’s earliest rock paintings, dating back over 20,000 years. You'll see pictures of the famous Aboriginal Dreaming, Namandi spirits, ancient handprints and even images of the earliest Europeans to make it to Australia’s shores. This is one of the most sacred and important sites in Australia and provides an amazing insight into the history of the Northern Territory.
Next, follow in the ancient footsteps of the Aboriginal people and check out the nearby Gunhardewarde, where you'll enjoy sweeping panoramas of Kakadu National Park.
To top off a jam-packed day you'll pay a visit the breathtaking Ikoymarrwa (Moline Rockhole), where you have special access to a real off-the-beaten-track Kakadu experience. Check out the stunning vistas from the lookout point, swim in the secret grottos and hidden lagoons or trek through the rainforest. As night falls, return to your private safari camp and set up tents for a traditional camping experience.
Day 2: Exploring the Yurmikmik Region: Boulder Creek Falls, Motor Car Falls, Kurrundi Falls, Gunlom Falls and Mary River
It’s another early start today, and a full day of swimming, walking and sightseeing in the beautiful Yurmikmik Region of the Kakadu National Park awaits! Today’s highlights include the breathtaking Boulder Creek Falls, the steep cliffs of Motor Car Falls and the cascading Kurrundi Falls.
Swim in plunge pools or hike to the top for sweeping panoramas. Weather permitting, you'll also check out Gunlom Falls, where the walk up leads to a natural infinity pool.
After dark, head back to your AC accommodation and enjoy a beef BBQ, with the option to taste test Kangaroo, Buffalo, and Crocodile meat (please note due to availability the Australian BBQ meat will not always be provided).
Day 3: Litchfield National Park: Wangi Falls, Florence Falls, Buley Rockholes, Tolmer Falls and Darwin
Your three day Northern Territory adventure comes to an end today! Enjoy a tour of Litchfield National Park, home to some of the most incredible plants and wildlife in Australia.
Check out the giant cathedral-esque termite mounds and keep your eyes peeled as you explore some of Litchfield’s most iconic waterfalls.
You'll also pay a visit to the beautiful Buley Rockholes, a series of crystal clear natural pools and mini waterfalls in the middle of the jungle.
Later, marvel at the Wangi Falls, dive into the plunge pool at the foot of Florence Falls and enjoy awesome views from the top of Tolmer Falls. That's some serious waterfall action!
Finally, after a long day of adventuring, relax and take in the scenic views as you head back to Darwin. You'll arrive back in the city in the early evening.
