WHAT TO EXPECT
This 6-day tour offers the best of Australia's south, taking you on a magical journey through the Eyre Penisula and Flinders Ranges. A combination of coastal beauty and incredible attractions, you won't forget this trip in a hurry. It's six days jam-packed with activities, but you can be sure they'll be full of fun and natural wonders.
Day 1 - Adelaide to Flinders Ranges
It's a bright and early start today, as you head off from your Adelaide accommodation. Stop for a quick coffee in Clare, then continue on to the Flinders Ranges National Park. Enjoy a day full of adventure as you explore Alligator Gorge, and embark on a guided walk to the top of the ranges at Duchmans Stern! You'll also enjoy lunch in Quorn, the home of the PichiRichi Railway, a heritage steam train.
Your camp for tonight is in Warren Gorge which has toilets but no showers. While exploring your home for the night, keep your eyes out for yellow-footed rock wallabies, which have bounced back from near-extinction.
Driving time: 4.5 hours
Hiking time: 2 hours.
Lunch and dinner included.
Day 2 - The Eyre Peninsula & Coodlie Park
Today is your chance to discover one of Australia's best-kept secrets: the Eyre Peninsula. Made up of striking rock formations, red desert landscape and a diverse range of wildlife, this area is a truly incredible place. It's still fairly undiscovered, with few other travellers so you really will feel as though you're in your private paradise!
As you pass the town of Kimba along the Eyre Highway, keep your eyes peeled for the Big Galah, an eight-metre-high statue overlooking the towns gift shop! Stop to take some snaps to send back home.
Next, you'll stop for a quick lunch, then hit the road again as you head to Venus Bay, Tahlia and the Lake Newland sand dunes. Here you can test out your sandboarding skills and enjoy the spectacular surrounding scenery.
In the afternoon, pull in to Coodlie Park for the night, and explore this fascinating working farm. You'll get to share a meal with other travellers tonight and sleep in some awesome swag huts. There are shower facilities here too, a great way to relax after your day of adventure.
Please note that tomorrow you will be swapping buses and joining the other group coming from Perth.
Driving time: approximately 5 hours
Hiking time:1.5 hours.
All meals included.
Day 3 - Coodlie Park & Baird Bay
Get ready for a day of water adventure! Today you'll get to swim with playful sea lions and dolphins at Baird Bay. The Eyre Peninsula is famous for its water wildlife, and this 3-hour cruise is an amazing opportunity to see these animals face to face as you swim, snorkel and splash about.
Please note that this activity is conducted by Baird Bay Eco-tours and is an optional experience costing $160.
After your water fun, it's on to Murphy's Haystacks, an incredible landscape of granite rock formations that have been sculptured into wondrous and weird shapes over millions of years.
Afterwards, its back to Coodlie Park to camp the night and exchange campfire stories with your new friends.
Driving time: 3 hours.
All meals included.
Day 4 - Coodlie Park & Mikkira Station
Coast and cliffs here you come! Hit the road today along the Great Ocean Tourist Drive towards Elliston and check out the amazing cliffs of Locks Well. Continue to Port Lincoln for lunch and stretch your legs as you wander around the town. Stroll along the foreshore, bask in the sun as you check out the scenery or enjoy exploring local shops and cafes.
Next, head to your camp spot for the night. You'll stay at Mikkira Station, a private campground surrounded by eucalyptus trees and friendly koalas. Mikkira Station has toilets and shower facilities.
Drive time: 4 hours.
Hiking time: 1.5 hours
All meals included
Day 5 - Port Lincoln to Mount Remarkable
Are you a daredevil at heart? If so, today's the day for you! Today you'll have the chance to meet Great White Sharks at Port Lincoln, and depending on how brave you're feeling, even go cage diving with these monsters of the deep! If staying on land is more your thing, spend the day brushing up on local whaling history at Whaler’s Way Conservation Park. Here you'll be visiting the remains of an old whaling station and you may even spot some kangaroos and emus.
Enjoy lunch in Lincoln National Park and then stop by Glen Forest Wildlife Park to hand-feed a few furry friends.
Your camp for tonight is Mount Remarkable, which lives up to its name!
Drive time today is about 4 hours. You will walk for 2, if not doing the cage dive. Mt Remarkable campsite has toilet facilities.
Day 6 - Mt Remarkable to Adelaide
It's goodbye time! Your overland adventure finishes in Adelaide today, but not before you enjoy a scenic drive back to the city, with glimpses of wildlife and coast along the way.
There is no accommodation provided tonight, so make sure you have booked your accommodation before departure.
There's also the chance to share stories and memories of your trip with fellow travellers over dinner and drinks later on (own expense).
