Melbourne y la inmigración china
Melbourne is home to a large Chinese community. The Chinese settlers began immigrating in the 1850s during the gold rush era in Victoria. Ships sailed from Hong Kong to Australia, all in the hope of reaching the "New Gold Mountain". From there Chinatown (on Little Bourke Street) grew and has made Melbourne's Asian cuisine what it is today!
Chinatown is a distinctive and well known area in Melbourne. It is the longest continuous Chinese settlement in the western world and one of the oldest Chinatowns in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a network of small alleyways filled with hidden treasure that connect Bourke Street and Lonsdale Street.
