Turtle sightings are year-round. The National Park is at its calmest on weekdays, while weekends and school holidays tend to see more visitors. Even then, the ocean remains peaceful, ensuring memorable experiences no matter when you visit.

Typically there are 3-5 participants, and can accommodate up to 12 on a tour.

For your tour, bring your beach essentials like swimwear, sunscreen, a towel, and a hat. Don’t forget snacks, a water bottle, and a change of clothes. Thongs or flip-flops are perfect for footwear!

We’ll have some light snacks waiting for you after the tour, including water, biscuits, and chips. If you’re planning to stay longer or need a little extra fuel, feel free to pack your own lunch or additional snacks. Just be sure to take any wrappers or food waste with you when you leave the National Park to keep the environment clean.

While we take care of your adventure, we can’t be held responsible for lost personal items. If you do decide to bring valuables like phones or cameras, it’s best to leave them in the vehicle. For peace of mind, any gear you bring should be waterproof and floatable—at your own risk, of course!

Yes, we welcome younger children when ocean conditions are safe and calm. For families with little ones or elderly guests, a private tour is often the great option. It gives you more flexibility and a day tailored to your group.

When booking online, just add your child’s age in the notes section. Our team will check the conditions for that day and make sure it’s a good fit. If needed, we’ll also have a car seat ready in the vehicle, as required by law.

We have been running safe National Park tours for almost 15 years and are highly skilled at reading weather forecasts and monitoring conditions for tours to Double Island Point. If the weather is not suitable for the tour, we will contact you right away to arrange a better time.

We occasionally receive concerns from non-local clients about public weather forecasts. Please note that tropical weather in Queensland is different from other regions. Rain or storms here can be very localised.

Tours generally continue in the rain, as tropical showers are often brief. However, we do not operate during electrical storms, large swells, or high winds. You can trust us to handle the weather, as your safety is our top priority.

Yes and we suggest visiting the toilet before the tour starts. At Double Island Point, you’ll find two toilet facilities that we stop at when we arrive and before we depart. If needed, we can also make a stop at the Tewantin cable ferry, where there are restrooms available.

The drive from the Bus Stop on Kirchner Ave (opposite The Deck @ Sea Salt) in Rainbow Beach to Double Island Point typically takes about 1 hour. This route is approximately 12 km long and is only accessible via 4WD.
