WHAT TO EXPECT
Moreton Island is a beautiful protected sand island off the coast of Queensland, Australia. It's home to an abundance of sand dunes, glistening beaches, coral reefs and wildlife. This 2-day, 1-night resort tour offers travellers a well-rounded experience of all that this idyllic island has to offer.
You will get the chance to swim, snorkel, trek and even feed wild dolphins as you're led around the island on your very own 4WD. If you want an adventure and a taste of nature, this is the tour for you.
Your first day will start with an early morning pickup from your Brisbane accommodation between 6 am and 8 am (depending on your location). From there, make your way to Moreton Islandvia ferry cruise down the Brisbane River. On the way, you will pass Moreton Bay Islands and cross Moreton Bay Marine Park. If you're hungry, you can grab a snack or drink at the ferry's onboard cafe while you look out for whales and dolphins. Be sure to have your camera ready!
Once you arrive at Moreton Island, it's time for a guided 4WD tour of the area. You will be led around the island's national park, travelling through desert scapes and sand dunes. If you'd like, you will have the chance to try sandboarding with all necessary equipment provided by your guide.
Mid-day, enjoy a picnic lunch and cold drinks before embarking on your afternoon activities. If you've chosen the eco tour option, you will spend the next few hours visiting deserted beaches including Honeymoon Bay and North Point as well as the renowned Cape Moreton Lighthouse. Along the way, you may spot dolphins, turtles, manta rays and whales (season dependent). If you've chosen the snorkel and kayak option, you will get fitted out in your gear before taking to the water, spotting colourful sea creatures and snorkelling or kayaking through coral reefs as well as the famous Tangalooma Shipwrecks.
After your afternoon activities, you will head to your resort via 4WD. Once there, check in and then feel free to spend the evening as you like. Eat dinner at the resort restaurant (cost at participants' own expense), participate in 30+ different resort activities such as tennis, archery or squash and hand-feed wild dolphins, which is the experience of a lifetime.
Wake up at your resort accommodation, taking some time to soak up the beautiful views of the bay, relax on the beach or stroll to the jetty. Late on, you can take some time to eco search for wildlife such as dolphins, dugongs and turtles. You will also have the chance to visit Tangalooma Ship Wrecks and National Park with the option to quad bike or take a whale watching cruise (additional fees apply).
In the afternoon, it's time to say goodbye to Moreton Island. Board a luxury Catamaran Bay and River cruise back to the mainland, and then take a bus back to Brisbane city centre. You will arrive back between 5-7pm depending on tides, weather, beach conditions, etc.
This tour lasts 2 days, 1 night. It departs daily from Redcliffe, Brisbane City Roma St. Transit Centre or from the Port of Brisbane Ferry.
Please note that minimum of 2 people are required to book this tour as the price is based on a twin share basis.
