QUÉ ESTÁ INCLUIDO
A visit to South Australia is not complete without a trip to Kangaroo Island! A rugged sanctuary for wildlife, this island is full of natural beauty. Spend a night here and fully explore all this beautiful spot has to offer. Experience the abundant wildlife and majestic scenery as you hike, kayak or sandboard and spot kangaroos, koalas and echidnas!
Day 1 - Penneshaw, Pennington Bay, Seal Bay, Flinders Chase National Park
You'll be collected from your accommodation (Adelaide City from 5:50 am and Glenelg at 6:30 am), ready to begin your adventure. Board the comfortable bus and get ready for some amazing views as you drive. You’ll pass fantastic coastal views along the Fleurieu Peninsula.
After driving for 90 minutes, hop aboard the ferry for the 45-minute cruise to the picturesque beachside village of Penneshaw. Stock up on supplies here, and get the first taste of that island scenery.
After collecting the essentials, the drive continues to your first stop, Pennington Bay. This is one of the most scenic Kangaroo Island beaches and is the perfect spot for a photo shoot. If you're lucky, you might even spot a few dolphins!
Next, head to Seal Bay, where you'll enjoy a guided tour along the pure-white beach. Walk within metres of countless Australian Sea Lions snoozing on the sand or frolicking in the surf.
There'll be a variety of walks you can choose from on this trip. The longest can be up to 2 hours, but they're usually around 45 minutes.
You'll also visit the Flinders Chase National Park in the far west of the island, which hosts two extraordinary geological features: the Remarkable Rocks and the Admirals Arch. This spot is also home to a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals!
After making friends with the local animals, it's time to head to your accommodation for the night. The cosy dormitory style accommodation is located within a farm on the edge of the national park.
Enjoy dinner and then settle around the campfire to swap stories and spot even more wildlife like kangaroos and possums.
Day 2 - Stokes Bay, Harriet River
Wake up early between 6.00 -7.00 am.
After breakfast, your wildlife adventure continues! Make the most of the cooler morning weather and hike one of the many walking trails on the island. You'll be able to watch kangaroos hopping about the bush, koalas nesting in their favourite gum trees and maybe spot a shy echidna shuffling past.
If you're taking this tour in summer (Dec-Mar) you'll spend some time swimming and snorkelling in search of the elusive leafy sea dragon off the coast. Afterwards, laze about and explore Stokes Bay. Enjoy the pristine sand and clear water, or, if you're feeling more active, take a walk past the beach and river to search for more wildlife.
After exploring, an action-packed afternoon awaits you. Start with sand-boarding down the Little Sahara Dunes before a leisurely paddle with kayaks along the Harriet River. If you're craving something more adventurous, quad-biking along rocky paths through dense scrub is an optional extra.
Later, it's time to begin the return journey. Make your way (reluctantly!) to Penneshaw where you will jump onboard the ferry to Cape Jervis for a short drive back to Adelaide with an arrival time of 8:30 pm.
