Where we visit
Day 1: Hobart to Strahan
Step into the Western Wilds and discover the breathtaking beauty of Mt Field National Park. Admire Russell Falls, the world's tallest trees, and explore the stunning Lake St Clair as you journey through the Franklin-Gordon National Park. Get a taste of Tassie's pioneering history in the quirky mining town of Queenstown before settling down in the charming town of Strahan, nestled on the scenic Macquarie Harbour. Here, your guides will reveal the secrets of the elusive platypus!
Day 2: West Coast
Venture into the heart of the Tarkine Rainforest and hike to Montezuma Falls, Tasmania's highest waterfall. Explore the vast Henty Sand Dunes or opt for a Gordon River Cruise (at your own cost). Soak in the beauty of the wild and rugged Ocean Beach before returning to Strahan for your final night.
Day 3: Strahan to Cradle Mountain to Launceston
Reach for the stars at Cradle Mountain National Park, a hiker's dream come true! Climb to Marion's Lookout or wander around the glacial Dove Lake. Keep an eye out for the adorable wombats at Ronny Creek then, discover the art-filled town of Sheffield before reaching the historic city of Launceston.
Day 4: Launceston to Bicheno
Take in the breathtaking beauty of Launceston's Cataract Gorge before driving to the East Coast and exploring some of Tasmania's best beaches, including the turquoise waters of the Bay of Fires. Savor the stunning coastal scenery and relax in the laid-back town of Bicheno, where you can join a guided little penguin tour (at own cost) in the evening.
Day 5: Bicheno to Freycinet National Park to Hobart
Rise and shine for an early start at the stunning Wineglass Bay Lookout, beating the crowds and the heat. Relax on the secluded beach, tackle the challenging Mt Amos climb, or take a relaxing beach walk. Marvel at the breathtaking views from the lighthouse at Cape Tourville before driving along the Great Eastern Drive to Hobart, where your unforgettable adventure comes to an end.
This tour departs Sundays (all year) and Tuesdays (October to April)
Please note: Tuesday departures operate in an anticlockwise direction starting on the east coast.
Pick up and drop off is included from your city hostel or hotel around 7am, returning at approx. 5:30pm on Day 5.

A range of accommodation options are available to suit your budget!
Comfort Plus Single, Double/Twin*: This is the highest level of accommodation offered for those seeking maximum comfort. Twin/double or single rooms are available. These book out quickly so secure your booking early if this is your preference.
Motel Single, Double/Twin*: Private room with private ensuite bathroom.
Dormitory: Single-gender rooms of between 4-8 beds with shared bathroom facilities. Double/Twin* or Single hostel rooms may also be booked – these are basic private rooms with shared bathroom facilities.
*Twin/Double – Please note that if solo travellers wish to book a private room, they will need to select a hostel, motel, or comfort plus single room, as The Operator does not pair solo travellers in twin or double room options.
On this tour, you'll visit some incredible places throughout Tasmania, with the opportunity to get off the bus to explore whenever possible. While most of these trips are active in nature, the guides aim to offer walks that cater for all types of fitness with easy, medium and hard walking options.
Some walks are guided, while others are unguided (free walking)
In many locations, there is a choice between an easier or more advanced option. Essentially, you can make this as active or as easy as you like; all walks are optional and range from 20 minutes up to 4 hours.
Bring clothing that suits the season, while including warm clothes (it can get cold in the mountains), comfortable walking shoes, toiletries, a towel, hat, sunscreen, waterproof jacket, swimsuit, water bottle and camera. Luggage is restricted to one normal pack, bag or case (20kg) plus a small day pack.
All tours are self-catering; there are plenty of food stops where you can purchase from restaurants, cafes, takeaways or even supermarkets should you be accommodated in a hostel and wish to use the hostel’s kitchen facilities. Some tours include samplings of local foods as per the itinerary.

The tours on offer are designed to help you see as much of Tasmania as possible with like minded travelers. There is no maximum age provided you have a good sense of adventure and a reasonable level of fitness, however, there is a minimum age of 8 years old to ensure all passengers get the most from the tour!
The maximum group size is 24 passengers plus the tour guide. These small group sizes allow you plenty of time to get to know your fellow passengers and guide.
Tours are conducted in modern, comfortable air-conditioned buses. By having small groups, it means you can spend as much time as possible outside the bus exploring the wonderful sights of Tasmania.
We included everything we believe is needed to have a great time in Tasmania while keeping our prices as low as possible. There are no extra charges or fees on any of our tours so the only expenses you’ll have throughout the tour will be extra meals not included, optional extras or souvenirs from the great places you’ll visit. Each individual tour will have different inclusions and to check see these just review our Tours to find out a bit more about them. To give you a general idea our tours will always include:

The Gordon River Cruise: This is an iconic cruise you can join on our tour. Normally $105.00 but by joining our tour the cost is only $90.00 (this will also include a buffet lunch!). Please note this price is subject to change.
The Bicheno Penguin Tour: This is a great way to view Tasmania’s Fairy Penguins up close in a natural setting. This tour takes place after sunset and has greatly assisted in the conservation of our feathered friends in Bicheno. $40.00 per person. Please note this price is subject to change.
Currently, masks are not mandatory in Tasmania on our tour vehicles, in accordance with the advice of the Tasmanian Public Health Authority. If this changes, guests and staff will be required to follow their current directions regarding masks. As a minimum requirement, we ask that you bring your own masks on tour, and keep one with you at all times. Learn how to safely wear, wash, and dispose of masks prior to coming on tour.
On our tours you will find additional cleaning, sanitising, and hygiene practices. We focus on high touch points and hard surfaces. We follow the WorkSafe guidelines for disinfecting and sanitising, as well as the recommended cleaning products. We have also we have implemented new Covid-19 staff training.
Any guest that tests positive for COVID-19 while on tour will be assisted by our staff to receive any medical attention they may require. Under Down Under will abide by the guidance of local health authorities. Please be aware that while we will assist any and all guests that require medical care or other support, any expenses incurred for treatment, testing or quarantine will need to be covered by the guest or guests affected.
Please bring a supply of hand sanitiser. We shall provide some on our tour vehicle and your accommodations will have some accessible; however, having your own supply will ensure that you have some protection during free time when you are exploring on your own.
Prior to travel, it is essential that you let our office know if you experience any symptoms of COVID-19, have been in isolation, or are known to have been in contact with someone that is suspected or has had COVID-19. Further, upon pick-up of all guests at the beginning of tour we shall ask each guest to complete a short health survey. At that time, if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, we will assist you to seek medical advice immediately. You will not be permitted to join the tour until cleared by a medical professional.
Travel insurance is strongly recommended for travel to cover a broad range of potential travel issues. Each policy differs, and it is important to check your individual policy inclusions and exclusions.
Travel insurance is not included in the cost of your tour. It is strongly recommended that you have personal travel insurance sufficient to cover loss or damage to property, illness, injury, or not being able to travel on the confirmed date of departure.
A traveller must be minimum age of 8 years at the time of the tour to participate.
There is no upper age limit though these tours can be physically demanding and you must have a reasonable level of fitness and act responsibly to ensure your own safety and the safety of others at all times.
All travellers under the age of 18 years at time of the tour must be accompanied by a legal guardian, or in lieu of a legal guardian, by a responsible escort over the age of 18 years, appointed by their legal guardian. The legal guardian or escort of any traveller under the age of 18 years will be responsible for the day-to-day care of travellers in their charge.
If booking Twin or Double accommodation options, a minimum of 2 persons is required
The Operator is unable to pick up from your Airbnb or private residences – if staying at these, please contact The Operator who will advise you of the nearest pick up location.
If you cancel a booking:
21 days or more prior to departure, you will be charged 25% of the total booking amount.
Within 8 to 20 days prior to departure, you will be charged 50% of the booking amount.
7 days or fewer prior to departure or no show, you will be charged 100% of the booking amount.
If you cancel a booking due to COVID-19:
Within 7 days of departure and due to you having COVID-19 or symptoms and supported by a medical certificate, or due to border closures inhibiting your ability to travel, you will be refund monies paid by you in connection with the booking less any unrecoverable costs.
No refund will be made if: you are not present at your tour’s department time; you join the tour after departure; you leave the tour prior to its completion for any reason; or, you fail to comply with Tasmanian border entry conditions at the time of arrival in Tasmania.
If cancelled by The Operator:
You can transfer the fare paid towards a tour on an alternate date or alternatively receive a full refund. Refunds will be provided where required by Australian Consumer Law. In circumstances where a cancellation is due to external events outside The Operator's reasonable control, refunds will be less any unrecoverable costs. The Operator is not responsible for any incidental expenses that you may have incurred as a result of your booking including but not limited to visas, vaccinations, travel insurance excess or non-refundable flights.
