What to Expect
Discover World Heritage-listed Fraser Island on a one day 4WD off-roading adventure. Offering a fun and immersive experience for all travel types, this all-inclusive tour is the perfect way to explore the sights and sounds of Fraser Island.
Your guide on this adventurous day out is a Fraser Island expert with local knowledge and a passion for the island. You'll drive across sand tracks to explore some of the most beautiful, natural spots and listen to fascinating facts about the island's history, fauna and flora. The custom-designed 4WD buses are airconditioned for your comfort and fitted with panoramic windows.
You’ll see the island’s iconic sights on a curated itinerary of highlights. Stop at Central Station, a former logging station that housed schools and shops for the bustling timber industry and is now a tourist stop. Then, stroll along the Wanggoolba Creek boardwalk to discover the ancient King Ferns, towering Ghost Gums and Pine trees.
See the breathtakingly beautiful Lake McKenzie, and enjoy a revitalising swim in the crystal clear blue waters or relax on the sandy white beaches – it’s picture-perfect! The lake is unique because it's a 'perched lake, meaning it's made entirely of raindrops and not fed from any lakes or streams. The white silica sands not only feel wonderful underfoot, but it also acts as a filter, giving the water incredible clarity.
Drive along the golden sand highway, known as 75 Mile Beach. Keep an eye out as you may spot birds of prey flying above or humpback whales as they migrate past (between July to November). You may also wish to join the Air Fraser team for a scenic flight over the island – book with your guide on tour (optional extra).
Another iconic stop is Eli Creek, where you can float down this refreshing fast-flowing freshwater creek pouring out 80 megalitres of water daily into the ocean. Enjoy a photo stop at the rusting wreck of the Maheno washed ashore during an out-of-season cyclone in 1935 – it’s one of Fraser Island’s most recognisable sites.
Finally, see The Pinnacles Coloured Sand. Learn how these radiant formations were created and the Butchulla Dreamtime story surrounding them. Stop to take a picture as we drive along Seventy-Five Mile Beach.
Lunch is also included with the tour, and you'll stop at the lovely Eurong Beach Resort, with its prime location on the east coast of the island.
At the end of the day, you’ll return to River Heads by 6:30 pm, where the shuttle service will take you back to your accommodation or transit centre (drop-offs are between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm).
