Frequently Asked Questions
In Byron Bay, the whale watching season lasts for around 5 to 6 months. The season begins when the whales are first sighted, which typically occurs at the end of May, and continues until the final whale pods leave our waters around early November.
If you’re going whale watching in Byron Bay, the best time to book your tour would be July, as this is when migration is at its peak in New South Wales. Of course, Humpback whales can be seen at any point during the whale watching season. However, with so many more whales frequenting our waters in July, you’re likely to spot even more action if you book a tour during this period!
