Day 1 & 2: Greyhound bus from Adelaide to Alice Springs
You'll depart from Adelaide Bus Station (Franklin Street Adelaide) at 6:00 pm. Drive overnight and arrive in Alice Springs the next day at 1:30 pm. The Greyhound Bus Station in Alice Springs is located directly in front of The Rock Tour Office. Perfect!

Once you arrive, stretch your legs and enjoy the afternoon checking out the local attractions. Wander down the Todd Mall, check out local art galleries and enjoy exploring this interesting place.

Tonight you're staying at the Alice Springs YHA (6 share dorm) which is located a 2-minute walk from the Alice Springs Greyhound Station.

Day 3: Kings Canyon (lunch, dinner)
You'll be picked up from the Alice Springs YHA at 5:30 am, ready for a day of adventure. Your first destination is Kings Canyon. Enjoy a 3-hour hike through the sandstone domes of the Lost City, visit the Amphitheatre, North & South Walls and the Garden of Eden.

Later, head to your next stop, Curtin Springs. Set up a bush camp for the night and help your guide prepare a healthy camp-oven dinner. Relax around the fire then curl up in your cosy swag under a million stars.

Day 4: Kata Tjuta & Uluru Sunset (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Today, feel the spiritual significance of the Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta. Your guide will show you some bush tucker along the hike before heading to the Aboriginal Cultural Centre where youcan listen to tales from the Dreamtime.

You'll then embark on a guided Mala Walk, before spending the evening enjoying dinner at the spectacular sunset over Uluru. Witness the awesome sight of Uluru changing colour as evening falls.

Tonight you'll be sleeping at the Ayers Rock Campground with toilets and showers.

Day 5: Uluru Sunrise (breakfast, lunch)

Take in a memorable Uluru sunrise over the World’s Largest Rock.

You'll then have time to complete the Uluru Base Walk and take in Kantju Gorge, Mutijulu Waterhole, and Aboriginal Cave Paintings.

Later, continue the drive back to Alice Springs, stopping on the way for an optional Camel Ride.

You'll arrive back in Alice Springs at approximately 5:00 pm. Back to civilization, get cleaned up and meet your guide for dinner and a couple of beers at The Rock Bar at 7:00 pm (additional cost).

Summer (Nov-Mar) average over 30 degrees Celsius. During the peak of summer temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius or more. Winter daytime temperatures are pleasant, usually around 20-25 degrees Celsius.

Effective 01/11/2013 Wataarka National Park close the clock wise hike if the temperature exceeds 36 degrees. The alternative hike is the anti-clockwise hike that does not include the Garden of Eden and a swim in the water hole. The Rangers at Wataarka National Park prefer you do not swim for safety reasons. The level of water in the Garden of Eden water hole may vary from season to season depending on rainfall.

You will need 2 x large 1.5 Litre bottles to take on the tour. You will need at least 3 litres of water for the Kings Canyon hike and will more than likely drink 4 to 5 litres of water on this day. You will need the same amount of water for the Olgas hike on Day 2 and Ayers Rock hike on Day 3. Our buses carry 60 litres of water on board and your guide will most definitely guarantee you will not dehydrate on the hikes. There are several points during the tour to fill up your water bottles. ALLMEALS ARE INCLUDED ON TOUR

Summer (Nov-Mar) it is quite warm at night, around 15-25 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees plus during the day. Winter (May-Sept) it is a lot colder, usually around 1 degree Celsius at night and 15 to 20 degrees during the day. June and July can get very cold at night, often below zero.

Winter nights are often below zero degrees (May-Sept) so you will need a good sleeping bag. If you don’t have one of your own, you can hire one from us for $20.00. Ours are washed after every tour and are minus 10 degrees rated…nice and warm.

A swag is made out of heavy duty canvas, sewn into a cocoon-like bag providing warmth, comfort and security - the ultimate of all bush beds! They have a 2 inch thick comfy mattress. You sleep inside your sleeping bag inside your swag so your body heat is trapped inside your sleeping bag and swag. A lot warmer than a tent!

Bring a small pack and leave your large pack at your Hostel if you are starting and finishing the tour in Alice Springs. If you are starting or finishing your tour in Ayers Rock (Uluru) you can store your luggage in our trailor during the tour. Shorts, T-shirts and good shoes during the day & a jumper for night time. Winter you can still wear shorts and a shirt during the day. However, you will need to bring warm clothes because it does get cold at night. Long pants, a good jumper, a beanie to keep your head warm and gloves are advisable. Regardless of the time of year that you are travelling you will need to bring a hat &sunscreen. Other things to bring include a towel, bathers, sunglasses, torch and toiletries.
