Itinerary
You will start the tour by meeting with your friendly local guide who will fill you in on the history of coffee in Vietnam as part of the tour. Many visitors here don’t realise that Vietnam is actually the second largest coffee producer in the world after Brazil, and so you are definitely in a place that loves to drink and grow coffee.
You will learn how coffee came to Vietnam from France in the 19th century and will get to uncover how coffee drinking became so popular here. Vietnam and Hanoi in particular has a vibrant and growing cafe culture, which you will get to experience firsthand as part of the tour. You can hear all about coffee growing and brewing methods in Vietnam and sample some of the local brews as you go.
A lot of the coffee in Vietnam is made with condensed milk as opposed to fresh milk, and you will get to learn why this is as well as sampling other local favourites such as egg coffee, one of the most famous types of coffee in Vietnam. You will get to follow your knowledgeable guide as you travel from a hipster cafe one moment to an ancient little hole-in-the-wall that has been serving up the same drinks for over 20 years, and meet the owners and interact with the local clientele. If you have any preferences about the type of coffee or place you want to visit, then this tour can be customised, just be sure to let your guide know as you travel from place to place.
Make sure to let your guide know if you have any specific questions about how to enjoy the best beans in Hanoi, or simply spend the day enjoying some of the most delicious drinks in Vietnam. Certainly if you love a shot of caffeine then this is one tour that is not to be missed if you are in town.
