What to Expect

Faith is a 19.7 metre (64.6 foot), wooden motor-sailer, built in 1935 in Scotland. She served in WW2, hosted Sir Winston Churchill, sailed all over the world, and now calls Lake Te Anau and Fiordland National Park home. There’s no other boat like her in New Zealand and no better way to experience the tranquility of this famous World Heritage Area.

Up to 16 guests (maximum) relax on board as you are treated to personalized commentary – no pre-recorded loudspeakers here! – with heartfelt hospitality, complimentary canapés, and chilled refreshments. You'll love the embracing silence of South Fiord and the unspoiled beauty of the Hidden Lakes. Faith departs on three separate tours a day.

Morning Scenic Cruise (3 hours):

Join this elegant cruise on the historic motor yacht Faith on Lake Te Anau. This relaxed 3-hour includes a guided walk in the Fiordland National Park, a delightful morning tea and refreshments, and cruising home under sail. There are three uniformed crew hosting you while onboard, and two nature guides to show you the delights of New Zealand scenery.

The serenity of sailing across Lake Te Anau and into South Fiord is surprising. You breathe in the pristine air during a short guided walk through an ancient forest and hidden lakes reveal their treasures to you. After your walk, you'll hop back onboard Faith to be treated to drinks and canapés. Help to hoist the sails. Visit the engine room. Discover the remarkable history of this elegant ship on the way back to port.

Afternoon Scenic Cruise (3 hours):

Evening Scenic Cruise (1.5 hours):

The latter part of the day has a special feeling on Lake Te Anau. It’s a sense of winding down, sitting back, pausing, reflecting, and enjoying the company of friends new and old. Where better to catch your breath than onboard an elegant sailing ship as it glides across deep, cool waters?

Enjoy drinks and canapés as the sun dips behind Fiordland’s majestic peaks. The crew shares the captivating story of how Faith’s journey started in a Scottish boatyard way back in 1935. Ring the brass bell. Help hoist the sails. Ask to sit in the captain’s wheelhouse chair and steer the way home. This is a personalized and fun experience of Fiordland.

No refunds within 24 hours of departure unless the activity operator cancels the activity due to waterway, road or weather conditions. The activity operator reserves all rights to cancel any Activity at its discretion for (but not limited to) any of the following reasons: a) waterway, road or weather conditions; b) lack of numbers participating in the Activity; c) unsuitability of Guest(s) due to reasons such as age, ill health, poor fitness, intoxication or any other reasons rendering a Guest unsuitable or unfit to participate in the Activity; d) any other circumstances which are beyond the reasonable control of the activity operator. All Guests agree to adhere to any instructions in relation to the Activity from the activity operator at all time.
