WHAT TO EXPECT
This is the ultimate foodie tour. Explore the hidden side of Shibuya's food scene an get an insiders perspective into the markets, culinary delights and food history of the area. This tour will show you the best food and eateries Shibuya has to offer - all the spots the locals love and go to eat! Nestled in the back alleys and winding streets of the city, these are unforgettable places you won't want to miss.
Throughout the tour, you'll get to stop at 5 different stores for delicious tastings and try dishes that are unique to the area.
On the menu is Kobe beef skewers and Kansai Takoyaki, crispy fried balls filled with octopus! You'll also get to try tasty Hiroshima okonomiyaki, a unique delicacy that's a little bit different to what you've had at home. Unlike traditional okonomiyaki, ingredients in Hiroshima okonomiyaki are layered rather than mixed. There's also a lot more cabbage used than in the Osaka style version.
But don't eat too much! There's still 5 types of sushi to try, all different delicate and delicious.
Once you've filled your belly, it's time to head to the last stop of your tour, Shibuya's Depachika. Japan’s 'depachika' are the basements of department stores and are an absolute food wonderland! You'll find rows of food stalls as well as local and international foodstuffs. Have a look for the ingredients for all the tasty Shibuya dishes you've tried!
Finally, for a sweet end to your tour, you'll get to munch on Taiyaki, a fish-shaped cake filled with oozy, sweet red bean paste. Yum!
This is a 3-hour tour, starting at 4.30 pm and finishing at 7.30 pm. Meeting point is in front of the green Information Bus (facing the Shibuya crossing) near the Hachiko statue.
