Why do we love this
This tour gives you the chance to learn about the history and culture of Nagano with a fun twist. What could be better than embarking on a beautiful hike, then trying to escape a ninja house complete with hidden doors and tunnels? We think that sounds pretty cool.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Hike through stunning forest, visit natural pools and delve into the world of stealth and disguise at the Ninja House!
Your trip starts at 9:00 am at Nagano station. From there, you'll take a bus to Togakushi where you'll begin your forest hike. Wander through towering trees and discover wildflowers and ponds as you go. You'll also have the chance to explore Kagami-ike lake and see stunning views of Mount Togakushi and the Japanese Alps.
After hiking for 2 hours it's time to replenish your energy with a delicious soba (buckwheat noodle) lunch! This is one of Nagano's traditional dishes, and Togakushi soba is especially famous because of the distinct taste it gets from the region’s clean water. Enjoy your noodles with a side of tempura shrimp and seasonal vegetables.
After eating, take the bus to the entrance of Togakushi Okusha Shrine where you'll set out on a hike on the pilgrimage path that's lined with beautiful cryptomeria (Japanese cedar) trees.
Once you've explored the sacred shrine and grounds, it's time to channel your inner warrior at the Ninja Folklore Museum. Not only will you learn about the history and techniques used by the Togakushi ninja, but you'll also be able to try out your ninja tricks as you escape the house through hidden doors and tunnels!
This tour is a full day trip starting at 9:00 am and finishing at 6:20 pm.
