Dry Season (May-Oct)
Day 1 - Cooinda (lunch, dinner)
You'll be collected from your Darwin accommodation at approximately 7.00am this morning, ready to begin the short journey to Litchfield National Park. Explore the waterfalls, spring-fed streams and rugged sandstone escarpments that make this spot so special. Discover intriguing cathedral and magnetic termite mounds, swim, hike and explore Florence and Wangi Falls and enjoy a picnic lunch. Yum!
After lunch, leave the highway behind and hit the dirt track. Make your way along Marrakai Road before joining the Old Jim Jim Road that will take you deep into Kakadu National Park. As you travel past billabongs and traversing water crossings, there's ample opportunity for wildlife spotting.
Later, head to your private campsite at Cooinda, complete with comfortable permanent tents. Enjoy some stargazing tonight as you chat with your fellow travellers.
Day 2 - Kakadu National Park, Ubirr (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Wake early for breakfast this morning, before heading to Kakadu National Park to join an iconic Yellow Waters Cruise. This is a must-do activity win Kakadu National Park - an award-winning cruise that is Aboriginal owned. The trip centres around a spectacular billabong system that is home to some remarkable and diverse wildlife. Spotting crocodiles is one fun activity to do here!
Afterwards, travel to nearby Nourlangie Rock to learn about the Indigenous culture. Here you can see how local Aboriginal people lived in this area through changing times. Stories from over 20,000 years of Aboriginal occupation are told through the rock art here.
After lunch visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, a Gun-djeihmi name for the local area and creek on land owned by the Mirarr clan. Explore the Marrawuddi Gallery that showcases Aboriginal art by artists from within Kakadu and the wider region.
Later this afternoon, head to the culturally significant Aboriginal art site of Ubirr. Located within the East Alligator region of the Park, this is another great sport of Aboriginal art. Learn the story of the Rainbow Serpent and climb the Nadab Lookout for panoramic views over the floodplain and beyond into Arnhem Land.
After learning about the area, it’s time to pick out a quiet spot to sit while we watch the sunset over the Kakadu escarpment.
Once the sun has set, its time to make your way to the private campsite for the night.
Day 3 - Twin and Jim Jim Falls (breakfast, lunch)
Today, the jewels of Kakadu National Park await. Departing early, travel to Twin and Jim Jim Falls for some waterfall action.
Twin Falls is accessed by 4-wheel drive track, a boat shuttle service and a rocky walking track and boardwalk. Once you arrive, it's time to relax on the sandy banks and admire the falls.
There’s more 4-wheel driving to come as you make our way to Jim Jim Falls. A walk through monsoon forest and over boulders awaits, and will lead you to the waterfall and plunge pool, surrounded by 150-metre cliffs.
That afternoon, relax in the natural surrounds and take in the sheer beauty of the Park.
Later, make your way back to Darwin and your accommodation. You won't forget the past three magical days of adventure, culture and wildlife!
You'll arrive back in Darwin in the early evening.
Wet Season (Nov-Apr)
Day 1 - Darwin to Kakadu National Park, Ubirr Art Site (lunch, dinner)
Departing Darwin at 7.00 am, the first stop on your adventure is Ubirr Rock. This spot is one of the main cultural sites within Kakadu National Park. You'll see a wide range of Aboriginal rock art which your guide will interpret for you.
Learn about the Rainbow Serpent and climb the Nadab Lookout for excellent views over the surrounding floodplain and beyond into Arnhem Land.
In the afternoon, visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre to learn about the 40,000 years of aboriginal occupation within the Park.
Later, enjoy a tasty dinner before settling into your private campsite at Cooinda.
Day 2 - Yellow Waters Cruise, Kakadu to Litchfield National Park (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
It's up early to enjoy the famous Yellow Waters Cruise at Kakadu. This crocodile cruise is Aboriginal owned and centres around a spectacular billabong system that is home to some remarkable and diverse wildlife. It's a must-do activity within the Park!
Not only will you spot crocodiles, you'll also see a ton of other local wildlife.
Afterwards, head to beautiful Gubara Springs and/or Gunlom Falls and enjoy a half day hike and a swim. Walk to the top of the Nawurlandja lookout to enjoy spectacular views over Kakadu and beyond.
Later that afternoon, drive to Mount Bundy, ready to spend the night at a private campsite with your fellow travellers.
Day 3 - Litchfield National Park to Darwin (breakfast, lunch)
Enjoy the short journey to Litchfield National Park this morning.
Explore the waterfalls, spring-fed streams and rugged sandstone escarpments here, and discover intriguing cathedral and magnetic termite mounds.
Swim, hike and explore Florence and Wangi Falls (water level dependent) as well as Buley Rockhole.
You'll return to Darwin in the early evening.
Please bring a torch, wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, water bottle (1.5 litres), walking shoes/boots, toiletries, swim wear, beach towel, camera, comfortable and casual clothing for 3 days.
