WHAT TO EXPECT
This Uluru (Ayers Rock) Tour departs from Ayers Rock Airport and explores the Red Centre's highlights. Discover Kata Tjuta National Park, Watarrka (Kings Canyon) and iconic Alice Springs.
The option to start and finish at Ayers Rock Airport gives you a chance to grab a cheap airfare to Uluru, while still experiencing the magic of Alice Springs!
This tour offers private campsites where you have the opportunity to sleep around the campfire in a famous Aussie swag. You'll travel in an air-conditioned minibus and absorb the fascinating history of the area and its people provided by your experienced guide – all of this while travelling with other fun loving and active travellers from all over the world. You'll also hike, climb and explore Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon and visit the Outback town of Alice Springs!
Day 1 - Ayers Rock (lunch*, dinner)
* For those joining us at Ayers Rock lunch is not included on day one. Guest should have lunch prior to the commencement of Safari.
Head into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park where your adventure begins. You'll have the opportunity to do a camel ride at Yulara and discover life atop one of the regions earliest forms of transport.
This afternoon embark on an interpretive base walk of Uluru. Those choosing to climb will also have the chance to do so but please remember that Uluru is a sacred site and the Anangu people ask visitors to respect their law and do not climb it.
Later, pay a visit to the Cultural Centre to learn about the history and culture of the area.
Then, as night falls, grab a front row seat to watch the ever-changing colours of Uluru at sunset.
Later, return to your private campsite for the night. After a dinner cooked over the open fire, some campfire stories and star gazing, snuggle into your swags ready for an active day tomorrow.
Day 2 - Ayers Rock to Kata Tjuta National Park (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Your guide will wake you bright and early to experience a mesmerising Uluru sunrise today. Early mornings are a magical time in the desert, full of bird song and native wildlife activity.
After breakfast, it’s a short drive to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). An Aboriginal word meaning “many heads”, exploring the domes of Kata Tjuta is an incredible experience. There are 36 in total so pull on your hiking boots and get exploring! Take the Valley of the Winds walk through creek beds, domes and beautiful wilderness.
After lunch it’s farewell to Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park as you travel to Kings Creek Station to spend the night at your private camp. It's another night under the stars - outback style!
Day 3 - Kata Tjuta National Park to Alice Springs (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
This morning enter the Watarrka (Kings Canyon) National Park, home of a mighty chasm with sheer red rock faces which soar over 100 metres above lush palm forests.
Today you'll explore the rim of Kings Canyon on a 6km round trip walk and will visit the Amphitheatre, Lost City and tranquil Garden of Eden.
After lunch hit the road and make your way towards the iconic outback town of Alice Springs, arriving in the early evening. This town has a vast pioneering history and will feel like the big smoke after 2 and a half days in the ‘Bush’.
You won’t need your swag tonight, as hostel accommodation is included (dormitory/twin or double room) along with dinner for your last night with the group.
Later, you’ll have the chance to wash your dusty clothes before experiencing the nightlife of this charming outback town. This part of the tour is un-guided so feel free to explore wherever you please.
Day 4 - Alice Springs to Ayers Rock Airport (breakfast)
It's an early start today. Following breakfast leave Alice Springs behind and begin your journey back to Ayers Rock.
With a short stop along the way, you and your baggage will be at Ayers Rock Airport in time to catch a midday flight out. Or, if you can't get enough of this stunning place, head back to the Resort before saying farewell to this magical destination.
