Frequently Asked Questions

You will need 2 x large 1.5 Litre bottles to take on the tour. You will need at least 3 litres of water for the Kings Canyon hike and will more than likely drink 4 to 5 litres of water on this day. You will need the same amount of water for the Olgas hike on Day 2 and Ayers Rock hike on Day 3. Our buses carry 60 litres of water on board and your guide will most definitely guarantee you will not dehydrate on the hikes. There are several points during the tour to fill up your water bottles. All meals are included on tour. Please note you do not need to carry empty water bottles that you can fill at the hostel in morning before the tour and you will be provided with water during the trip.

Effective 01/11/2013 Wataarka National Park close the clock wise hike if the temperature exceeds 36 degrees. The alternative hike is the anti-clockwise hike that does not include the Garden of Eden and a swim in the water hole. The Rangers at Wataarka National Park prefer you do not swim for safety reasons. The level of water in the Garden of Eden water hole may vary from season to season depending on rainfall.

Summer (Nov-Mar) it is quite warm at night, around 15-25 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees plus during the day. Winter (May-Sept) it is a lot colder, usually around 1 degree Celsius at night and 15 to 20 degrees during the day. June and July can get very cold at night, often below zero

Summer (Nov-Mar) average over 30 degrees Celsius. During the peak of summer temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius or more. Winter daytime temperatures are pleasant, usually around 20-25 degrees Celsius.

Winter nights are often below zero degrees (May-Sept) so you will need a good sleeping bag. If you don’t have one of your own, you can hire one from us for $20. Ours are washed after every tour and are minus 10 degrees rated…nice and warm

Bring a small pack and leave your large pack at your Hostel if you are starting and finishing the tour in Alice Springs. If you are starting or finishing your tour in Ayers Rock (Uluru) you can store your luggage in our trailor during the tour. Shorts, T-shirts and good shoes during the day & a jumper for night time. Winter you can still wear shorts and a shirt during the day. However, you will need to bring warm clothes because it does get cold at night. Long pants, a good jumper, a beanie to keep your head warm and gloves are advisable. Regardless of the time of year that you are travelling you will need to bring a hat & sunscreen. Other things to bring include a towel, bathers, sunglasses, torch and toiletries.

A swag is made out of heavy duty canvas, sewn into a cocoon-like bag providing warmth, comfort and security - the ultimate of all bush beds! They have a 2 inch thick comfy mattress. You sleep inside your sleeping bag inside your swag so your body heat is trapped inside your sleeping bag and swag. A lot warmer than a tent!

We do not offer tents on our camping tour. Please contact us directly as we can arrange for you to hire Safari Tents at Ayers Rock Campground and Cabins at Kings Creek Station if you prefer for an extra cost. Most campers choose to sleep in their swag under the stars. We offer you a real Aussie outback experience sleeping in a swag under the stars. You simply put your sleeping bag inside & get cozy around the camp fire sleeping under a million stars.

If returning to Alice Springs, keep your larger luggage in your accommodation in Alice Springs & just bring a small bag on tour. If leaving our tour on Day 3 at Ayers Rock Airport, take all of your luggage with you. If being picked up on Day 1 at Ayers Rock Airport, you will have all of your luggage with you anyway.

Most people on our tours are between 18 to 45 years of age and International travellers. If you are young at heart & reasonably fit you will fit right in. If you travelling with kids - minimum age for kids is 9 years.
