Why Do We Love This
This is an amazing chance to see a shipwreck up close! We think the chance to swim through tunnels and caves is pretty cool too and we love that you get to explore some beaches and try snorkelling too.
What to Expect
Get ready to explore the sunken Rainbow Warrior and immerse yourself in an underwater world! You'll see stunning marine life, relax on pristine beaches and dive up to 26 metres below the surface. What are you waiting for? Dive in!
Your adventure starts at 7:45 am. Meet at Paihia Dive shop on Williams Road, ready to gear up. Your guides will organize equipment and paperwork, then load the minibus and trailer for an 8:30 am departure.
It's a 45 minutes drive to Matauri Bay where you'll be launching the 7.5-metre inflatable boat from the beach. Once you arrive, set up the scuba gear, put the wetsuits on, and listen to the safety briefing. Then it's time for the fun!
It's just a short 8 minutes boat ride out to the Rainbow Warrior Wreck. Here you'll take the plunge to explore one of Greenpeace's most famous ships. Sunk in 1985, this wreck is now home to incredible marine life. Swim among them and enjoy the excitement of exploring this underwater world!
After the wreck dive, head to one of the beautiful beaches on the Cavalli Islands for some lunch and snorkelling.
After eating, it's onto another dive site in the Cavalli Islands. This is normally an 18 metre or less dive that will see you exploring the volcanic reef areas. There's plenty of chances to swim through tunnels and caves, so let your guides know if you are keen!
Once you've completed the final dive, its time to head back to Matauri Bay, arriving at about 2:30 pm. You'll then make your way back to Paihia around 4:00 pm.
Please bring your swimsuit, towel, sun block, camera, and something warm to wear after diving. You are welcome to bring your own lunch, or a packed lunch for $12.00 can be provided.
