This 2-day guided tour of one the World's Seven Wonders is for those short on time or who want a comfortable train ride to Machu Picchu. This gives you the opportunity to enjoy your trip while we take care of everything for you, including your accommodation in Aguas Calientes (the nearest town to Machu Picchu), entrance to Machu Picchu, a guided tour, train tickets and all transfers. This tour will provide you a local perspective to see the real Machu Picchu – plus all of its archeology, culture, and mysticism.
Day 1: Hotel or Etnikas Center to Aguas Calientes
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco early morning or from the Etnikas retreat centre around 1 pm. We will then drive roughly two hours to the train station at Ollantaytambo to catch the 3:30 pm train to the town of Aguas Calientes, a further two hours.
*We can pick you up from any hotel in the Sacred Valley or elsewhere at a time which suits your schedule. This has an additional cost of $15 USD per person.
Once we reach Aguas Calientes, you can take the day off. Settle into your hotel, then choose between walking around the town, visiting the Machu Picchu Museum, walking to the Mandor Waterfall, or visiting the hot springs, all within or near Aguas Calientes.
This evening, your tour guide will come to your hotel to give you a briefing for the next day.
Day 2: Machu Picchu Tour & Cusco
Today, you will visit Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and one of the most-viewed archeological sites on the planet. Here, you will visit temples, royal palaces and astronomical observatories that cling to a granite spur 2,000 feet above the valley floor. Machu Picchu has amazing views of the snow-capped Andes, and the Urubamba River twists around the base of the citadel.
At 6 am, after a filling breakfast, you will board the bus to Machu Picchu. At 6:30 am, you will meet with your expert English- or Spanish-speaking guide for a 2-hour tour of the most important sites, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana (Sun Stone), and The Temple of Three Windows. Afterwards, you will have free time before taking the return bus to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to Ollantaytambo. Please be at the Aguas Calientes train station at least 20 minutes before your departure time.
From Ollantaytambo, we will drive you back to Cusco and your hotel, arriving between 7 pm and 9 pm.
