WHAT TO EXPECT

Tour the treasured sights of the beautiful Hiroshima Castle and enjoy the view from the comfort of a ship on this boat cruise in Hiroshima. Discover the fascinating architecture of this historical monument while travelling on the canals that surround the truly grand and magnificent Hiroshima Castle. With guided sightseeing, this tour will take you as far as the beautiful castle keep where you will discover areas that are difficult to view from land. In addition, secrets associated with the history and heritage of Japan will be shared on this tour. You are invited to find charm and enchantment in the building's beautiful details while listening to the history of the castle from a guide.

Built over a course of 10 years, Hiroshima Castle is a significant site that was established in 1589 by a feudal lord during Japan's Sengoku (Warring States) period. Although the original castle keep and several other structures were completely destroyed during the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in World War II, you can still feel the sense of time and history from the stone walls and waterways surrounding the monument.

The castle was rebuilt at the request of local residents and was renovated using traditional methods to reproduce the original structure. In this tour, you can relax as you cruise around Hiroshima Castle on a wooden ship called a 'Wasen' in Japan. The ultimate Japanese style ship, sometimes called a 'Wasen', is a spectacular vantage point from which to enjoy the passing scenery and panoramic vistas the historic Hiroshima Castle.

The castle is named for its many carps that swim in the moat interspersed with the mystical scent of its iconic cherry blossoms in full bloom and autumn colours, a symbol of Japan's most deep-rooted cultural and philosophical beliefs. You will get to feed the carps from the boat as you sail the canal. Characterized by the extraordinary variety of Japanese carps and unspoiled nature, you will have the opportunity to feel the richness of the four seasons in Japan.

After your cruise, you will go onshore to visit the castle. Inside the castle, there will be numerous opportunities to wear traditional weapons and armour like Yoroi (armor) and Kabuto (helmet). Immerse yourself in ancient Japanese culture and experience what life was like during the Sengoku period of Japan.
