WHAT TO EXPECT
Come and discover a world of wildlife and wonder! Home to 1400 animals and 135 different species, Auckland Zoo is a great place to head for a day trip full of fun.
With daily Keeper Talks, you can learn all about the different animals, from the giraffe, the elephant and the Red Panda, to flamingos, seals and tigers! Visit the mammal enclosure, make friends with the birds and discover the unique ectotherms that are the reptiles, invertebrates, fish and amphibians!
Enjoy wandering the grounds and stop in for a snack at the various cafes or the food village. Auckland Zoo is proud to serve palm oil-free and free-range food at each of these.
The Food Village - Several food trucks are located near a pavilion in the heart of the Zoo by the Band Rotunda. This is where we serve our widest range of hot and cold café food - you can find fresh salads, sandwiches and wraps alongside burgers, hot chips and fish and chips.
The Watering Hole - the perfect place to relax and enjoy the stunning views of our flamingos, lions, and elephants. Enjoy Mojo coffee, drinks from The Better Drinks Company, Tip Top scoop ice cream, burgers, pitas and hot chips.
Wetapunga Café - conveniently located in the Zoo's entrance plaza, Wetapunga Café offers Mojo coffee, a selection of drinks from The Better Drinks Company, Tip Top ice creams and a range of cabinet food options including fresh salads, sandwiches, wraps, muffins, pastries, and scones.
The Lookout - located in the Zoo's New Zealand precinct Te Wao Nui, The Lookout offers Mojo coffee, a selection of drinks from The Better Drinks Company, a range of snacks and Kapiti ice cream.
There are also a number of picnic areas around Auckland Zoo so you can sit back and relax with a packed lunch while enjoying the sights and sounds!
Don't miss out on visiting Te Woa Nui (The Living Realm) a native NZ area which covers a quarter of the zoo! It's home to over 100 New Zealand native plant species and around 60 different animal species and is a great way to learn more about the native flora and fauna. The area includes a replica kauri dam and houses native animals found around New Zealand, with species from the islands, wetlands, forest and coast. Come and visit the Kea, New Zealand Fur Seal, the Tuatara and the Kiwi!
Top off your visit with a trip to the WildZone gift shop. It's packed full of souvenirs, gifts, clothing, books and toys, and there's a strong focus on conservation and sustainability, with a range of products made from recyclable and sustainable sources. Many of these contribute to humanitarian and conservation projects around the world, so you can feel good about your purchase!
Zoo is open 9.30 am - 5:30 pm with last entry at 4.15 pm.
Please bring your ticket printed out or on your mobile device to the online ticket queue at the gate for it to be scanned.
All children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
