"We love it because its is a unique adrenaline experience by the original shark ride company and can only be found in Queenstown!"
WHAT TO EXPECT
Get ready for Queenstown's ultimate adrenaline experience... the Hydro Attack! It's a high-speed thrill ride in a semi-submersible shark and it's a ton of fun. Sit back in the state-of-the-art cockpit and prepare to feel the g-forces as one of your expert pilots gives you an experience you’ll never forget!
Look through the F-16 fighter grade glass and watch the sky disappear as your pilot descends into a dive! Then, feel your heart racing as you break the surface and launch the entire 18ft of the vessel in the air! You'll also roll on a 90′angle, do doughnuts and so much more!
Reach speeds of 80kph as you skim across Lake Wakatipu and go as fast as 40kph under water. It'skind of like being in a torpedo! You'll also fly 5 metres into the air as the jets propel you upwards before diving back into the lake's surface. This is a once in a lifetime experience that can only be found in Queenstown!
Please note: maximum height 6ft 3 (1.9m) and maximum weight 105kg.
Hydro Attack Individual Shark Ride
Unfortunately, no spaces available for selected dates.
Yes, our minimum age is 6 years old and a parent or guardian must check in with the child to sign the consent form if they are under 18. Please remember Hydro Attack is a one-on-one trip so it’s only suitable for kids who are confident away from their parents.
We’ll start your trip by cruising out of Queenstown Bay. Once we’re past the marker your driver will give you a run down of which operating area you’ll be heading for based on the current lake conditions.
Currently we only offer passenger rides. Due to the boat availability and the technicality of the machine’s controls we don’t offer a self -drive option. If you’re interested in purchasing a Seabreacher X from us we do offer Seabreacher training once you have put down a deposit. Conditions apply.
Our inflatable aircraft seal and thick acrylic canopy keeps the cockpit protected from the water and the weather. As we are a water-based activity there is the potential at times to get a small bit of spray or damp feet but nothing to worry about. Wet weather gear isn’t required to be worn in the craft, only the streamlined life jacket we provide.
Due to the cosy confines of the cockpit we need to make sure that all our passengers can get in and out of the cockpit quickly and safely in the unlikely event of an emergency. Due to this there is a height restriction of 191cm (6ft 3’) and weight restriction of 105kg in place. If you’re over the height or weight restriction we would need you to come down to our operating berth prior to booking so one of our team can assess whether you will be comfortable in the craft. Please contact the Hydro Attack team if you are unsure whether to book or not.
Yes Hydro Attack can be weather dependent. Hydro Attack’s operation can be affected by high swell on the lake, heavy rain or stormy conditions so we ask that you call our freephone number 0508 HYDRO ATTACK (493 7628) to do a weather check at least one hour before your trip departs. If individual shark rides are cancelled you may have the option to swap to the Boat trip and shark ride option.
If you have any specific medical condition including breaks or fractures or you suffer from back or neck problems please advise us at time of booking so we can assess and advise your suitability to travel. Unfortunately if you are pregnant or have a serious heart condition we do not recommend that you ride on Hydro attack.
I suffer from motion sickness, can I still go on the trip?
In a similar way to a stunt plane the g-forces and extreme maneuvering possible during an extreme ride in the Seabreacher X can affect people who suffer from acute motion sickness. While this only affects a small number of our passengers we recommend anyone coming out on a trip who wants the full adrenaline experience to avoid eating a large meal less than two hours beforehand.
Alternatively just let your driver know you’re prone to motion sickness and they can adjust the trip accordingly.
Sorry, no loose items can be in your pockets or taken inside the shark during your trip. We provide a secure location to leave your belongings while you’re on your trip. Cameras and bags can be taken on the boat (but not the shark) on the boat trip and shark ride option.
Passengers agree that they are carried at their own risk and the supplier will not be liable in any way for any injury incurred as a result of being carried.
All customers need to do a weather check two hours before their trip departure time. Call on the free phone number 0508 493 762.
The boat trip and shark ride option is the windy weather alternative for the individual shark ride trips when it is too rough on the main part of the lake to operate from the wharf. Customers will be offered the option to switch to this trip (at no extra cost) if the 15-minute trips are unable to go. If this option doesn't suit they will be offered the option to reschedule or a full refund.
Very occasionally the weather is so windy we can't run the boat trip option as well. In this event, clients will be offered the option to reschedule or a full refund.
Maximum height 6ft 3 (1.9m) and maximum weight 105kg.
24-hour cancellation and amendment policy applies.
A full refund will be given with at least 24 hours notice prior to your booking.
No refunds/changes/transfers with less than 24 hours notice.
The safety of the supplier passengers and their property is important to the supplier and by purchasing a shark ride or spectator spot with the supplier and boarding its vessels:
Passengers agree that they are carried at their own risk and the supplier will not be liable in any way for any injury incurred as a result of being carried. Passengers should be aware that in New Zealand any claims for personal injury are limited by a government scheme and passengers should obtain their own insurance should they wish to do so.
Please advise a member of our staff if you have a physical condition that may affect the enjoyment of or your safety on the ride with the supplier.
The supplier suggests that passengers do not take any personal property or equipment in the sharks, however if passengers choose to do so then this property or equipment is carried at the PASSENGER’S OWN RISK and the supplier will not be liable in any way for any loss to such property or equipment however caused.
For the safety and comfort of all passengers all instructions given by the pilot must be followed and parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that their children do the same.
CANCELLATION OR REFUNDS
The supplier requires 12 hours notice for cancellation before the booking departure time to get a full refund, after that a portion of the cost is retained.
If the trip is cancelled due to minimum numbers customers will be given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
Trips are weather dependent – the supplier’s operation can be affected by high swell on the lake, heavy rain or stormy conditions and the supplier reserves the right to modify trip times and cancel trips at our sole discretion. A full refund can be given for trips cancelled by weather when the cancellation is verified by the supplier.
The supplier Gift Cards are valid for 180 days after the date of purchase. Extension of validity beyond the gift card expiry date is at the supplier’s sole discretion.
Minimum age to ride in the shark is 6 years old. Rides in the shark are subject to a weight restriction of 105kg (231 pounds/16.5 stone) and height restriction of 193cm (6ft 4′). Hydro Attack reserve the right to cancel any trip if the passenger safety is at risk due to the customer exceeding the weight or height restrictions. Please call the supplier team if you have any questions regarding this.
