Why do we love this

Trying to see all the temples at Angkor can be daunting (there's more than 1000 after all), but we love this tour because it makes seeing this amazing site so easy! It's a jam-packed day of history and exploration... you don't only get to visit some of the many temples, but you also check out historical areas and striking carvings too. This is a great way to see this cultural mecca in a day.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Tick this off your bucket list. Angkor is one of the largest religious complexes in the world and a World Heritage listed site that's full of natural beauty, Kmer architecture and incredible history. Wander through its many temples, from Bayon to Ta Prohm and soak up the serene atmosphere.

You'll be picked up from centrally located hotels between 8.00 and 8.45am by your local guide to begin your tour, and then the adventure starts! First, you'll visit Angkor Wat temple, the most famous and distinct of all the temples in the Angkor complex. Admire the stunning rock carving, interesting structures and learn about its religious significance.

From there, head to Bayon and explore its 54 towers, each decorated with more than 200 carved faces. This temple is famous for its striking carvings and distinctive reliefs. Each stone on the temple walls tells a different story about the mythology, history and life of the Kmer and Buddhist people.

Continue your temple adventure at Phimeanakas and Baphoun and pay a visit to the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.

Your last stop for the morning is the breathtaking South Gate of Angkor Thom City. Huge stone gods and demons line the road leading to the gate, struggling in a cosmic tug-of-war. At the gate itself are four huge faces facing north, south, east and west.

You'll be hungry after all your temple explorations, so next, it's lunchtime at a local restaurant! Enjoy a tasty traditional kmer meal, near Sras Srang, the Royal Pool of Ablutions. Feast on delicious local food and regain your energy with a nap in a hammock. If you're still keen to explore, greet local Cambodians living in the area and learn a little about life in Siem Reap.

After lunch, the temple action continues!  Your next stop is the beautiful Ta Prohm temple, which was made famous by Angelina Jolie in the Tomb Raider films. The jungle has started to reclaim this architectural masterpiece and its full of stunning trees and twisting roots among the stones.

Afterwards, its time for the final stop of the tour, Pre Rup. This is one of the oldest buildings in the Angkor complex, and if time permits, you'll be able to explore this building with a climb to the top!

Tour duration is approximately 7-8 hours, starting between 8.00 am - 8.45 am.

We're all about getting into the places big tours can't do. This tour have a maximum group size of 16 people. This way, we don't overwhelm the destination and you're able to have a real experience and immerse yourself in the local environment. On extremely rare occasions there may be slightly more travellers, but in these cases, we will try to contact you beforehand to let you know.

Yes, we have lots of tours that allow children! The minimum age and child policy will be included in the tour description, and children under six are typically free of charge. However, if you require a stroller, please check that the tour is also listed as accessible.

We recommend you allow plenty of time to arrive early for your tour, especially when you are in a new destination where transport can take longer than expected. Because we want to ensure our other guests can still enjoy their tour, our guides will only wait a maximum of 15 minutes for you to arrive. Unfortunately, if you are later than, this the tour will start without you and you will not be entitled to a refund.

We don't want you to miss out on your tour just because of a little rain so most tours will go ahead in all weather conditions. However, if tours are cancelled under extreme circumstances, your leader will contact you to move your tour to another day. For that reason, please make sure your booking includes a phone number or email address where we can contact you while you're travelling.

Yes, tipping is commonplace in most parts of the world, particularly in the service industry (that includes tour guides!). Although our trips are inclusive of all costs and we ensure our guides and local staff are paid fairly, tips are always welcome.
