WHAT TO BRING:

You must be prepared for all weather conditions when visiting Fraser Island - it's always a good idea to bring the following:

A small backpack
Swimwear
Sunglasses
Sunscreen
Hat
Towel
Warm jumper
Raincoat
Insect repellent (Nov-Mar)
1-litre refillable water bottle

If you would like to bring alcohol or snacks with you, it is advised that you buy them on the mainland and bring them with you, as there are shops on the island, but they are very expensive! Please bring only cans or plastic bottles - no glass.

DRIVING ON FRASER ISLAND:

4WDriving around Fraser Island is heaps of fun and the highlight of the trip for many. There is no need to stress about navigating the beach or knowing all of the 4WD techniques - all you have to do is follow your guides wheel tracks and simple instructions.  All our vehicles are automatic and constant 4WD, so you can relax and take in the scenery.

You are eligible to drive our Drop Bear 4WD if you are over 21 years of age, you passed your drivers license more than 12 months ago, and you have a full, clean license.

You will need to show your ID Card Licence - it is illegal to drive in Queensland without having your licence on you, and if the police stop you on Fraser Island, you could receive a very hefty fine that we don't want you to have to pay. You will need to provide an international translation if your licence is not written in English.

The tour price includes all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and we can guarantee that all meals will be nutritious, healthy and just what you need after an adventurous day.  We can cater for any dietary requirements at no extra cost (i.e. vegetarian, lactose intolerant, gluten-free, etc.) Just let us know!

Absolutely EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED. Food, water, accommodation at The Beach House or camping gear (inc sleeping bags, pillows, linens, mattresses), barge fees, vehicle permits, insurance, national park fees etc etc etc. Just bring along a little change for an ice-cream and a souvenir

We like to keep our guests happy and healthy at all times! We offer alternative options for those that suffer from wheat, gluten or dairy intolerance and cater to vegetarian and vegan requirements easily and of course at no extra cost.

Alcohol is not provided on tour sorry. It’s enough funding our own drinking habits let alone yours ;) hehe. You are welcome to bring along any refreshments you like though and we’ll provide the ice and eski’s. We strongly recommend you purchase any beers you want before the tour, as we can’t guarantee any stops and the bottle shops on the Fraser Island are very expensive! Please bring only plastic bottles or cans as glass bottles can easily break on the way up to Fraser Island due to the rough conditions.

There is some walking, but not a massive amount. The longest walk is roughly 45 minutes (oneway), at a relaxed pace so you can enjoy the scenery. We do recommend comfortable footwear, but hiking boots are not 100% necessary so if you don’t have any don’t worry.

Along with its natural beauty, Fraser Island also has some natural dangers and if you don’t know what your doing it can’t be an unforgettable experience for the wrong reasons. However, a guided tour is definitely the safest way to see the wonders of Fraser Island and all our guides are fully educated about Australia’s wildlife and what to look out for to keep you safe. They are also very experienced drivers, specialising in 4WD driving on rough terrain and all have current certificates, licenses and first aid skills.

You need to be prepared for all weather conditions when visiting Fraser Island so it’s always a good idea to bring:

  • A small backpack
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Swim wear
  • Warm jumper and a raincoat
  • 1 litre refillable water bottle
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent (Nov-Mar)
  • Your camera!
  • …and any alcohol or snacks you may want (there are shops on the island, but they are very expensive!)
