Your adventure begins and ends at Cairns.
Leave the hustle and bustle behind on this five-day guided journey to some of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests and the untouched coast it spills onto. This trip takes you into the heart of the land the Kuku Yalanji people have called home for 50,000 years, into the complex ecosystem of the forest and deserted white-sand beaches. Learn about hunting native plants from a First Nations guide, encounter crocodiles and colourful birds on a wildlife cruise through mangrove thickets and walk under a heavy green canopy in Mossman Gorge.
Answer the ancient call of wild coastal rainforest as you delve deep into the heart of Tropical North Queensland.
The beauty of our style of travel is that it caters to travellers who are travelling solo and who want to meet and share experiences with like-minded people.
Rooming is organised on a twin-share basis. We pair up solo travellers with another traveller of the same gender.
We also have an optional single supplement available on most trips for travellers who prefer to have their own room. This will apply to all nights on the tour.
This trip involves plenty of walking over varied terrain and is only suited to travellers with a good level of mobility and fitness. Good footwear, clothing for all types of Queensland weather, plus perhaps walking poles are recommended. More details on each walk can be found in the itinerary.
The walks included on this trip are Grade 3 (suitable for most ages & fitness levels, some walking experience recommended, tracks may have short, steep sections, a rough surface and many steps) and Grade 4 (walking experience recommended, tracks may be long, rough & steep).
The weather in this part of the world can be unpredictable, even in the dry season, so be sure to pack for all conditions!
Walks indicated in the day-by-day itinerary are the best pick, but your guide may need to change them sometimes depending on the track and weather conditions.
All countries require a valid passport (with a minimum 6 months validity).
Contact your local embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements, or see your travel agent.
It is your own responsibility to have the correct travel documentation. Visa requirements for your trip will vary depending on where you are from and where you are going.
Yes, travel insurance is compulsory on this trip
Every traveller is different and therefore spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while other travellers like to purchase more souvenirs than most. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping and tipping. Please also remember the following specific recommendations when planning your trip.
You can have a plate of food for a street vendor for AU$10 - $20, however there are always more expensive options. From a mid-range, sit-down restaurant, expect to pay AU$20 - $80 - not including alcohol.
Lightweight clothing. You will need to bring a mixture of lightweight clothing and layers. Long shirts and pants are useful to protect against the harsh Australian sun. Clothes should be easy to wash and dry. Maybe bring a change of smart clothes for dinner in larger cities. Australia is pretty casual, shorts or a skirt and a top, with sandals, is our usual warm-weather wardrobe.
Try to avoid bringing unnecessary valuables.

Waterproof walking boots with full ankle support are recommended for walking trips. Make sure your footwear is well worn-in and comfortable. The Operator also recommends hiking socks with at least one spare pair, as you will find these minimise the chance of getting blisters. The key to preventing blisters and avoiding unnecessary pain is to eliminate friction.
WATER BOTTLE
Please bring your own water bottle to refill along the way. Although it can be difficult to avoid bottled water when travelling, please use the water dispensers which are provided on some of the vehicles and at some of the accommodation. Your leader will advise whether tap water is safe to drink in your destination, and if it is you can simply refill with tap water. When unable to avoid bottled water, it is better to buy the largest available and distribute it into your smaller bottle for the day. If you are walking or trekking as part of your trip you will need to carry at least 2L of water with you.
Due to limited vehicle space and strictly enforced road laws regarding transport of baggage, your main piece of luggage must be soft-sided, compact and weigh no more than 15kg/33lb. The Operator is unable to carry large suitcases or bags, particularly hard/externally framed suitcases as they are difficult to store and can damage equipment and other travellers' belongings.
Accommodation is a resort accomodation style in a twin share room at Port Douglas.
