WHAT TO EXPECT

Experience the magnificent grandeur of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Marvel at towering fiery red walls and desert dunes illuminated by the desert sun as you drive along the ranges. Stop at beautiful gorges and waterholes, call into Glen Helen and Simpson's Gap, and snap some water shots at Ellery Creek Bighole. You'll catch some seriously beautiful sites on this tour, so make sure your camera is charged and your eyes are open! 

Your Emu Run guide will collect you from outside your Alice Springs accommodation at 7.45am. Hop on the bus and head out on your desert adventure!

Spectacular outback scenery and photo opportunities await as you travel along the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges, stopping at historic sites and natural wonders. You'll get to enjoy beautiful walks at Simpsons Gap and the Ochre Pits, and stop at Standley Chasm for a morning tea in the bush.

Later, explore Ormiston Gorge and tuck into a delicious lunch before taking a stroll around the area.

Your next stop is at Glen Helen, home to a classic old homestead and a picturesque backdrop. Take a break with a cool drink on the restaurant's verandah before hitting the road again.

In the afternoon, it's time to head to Ellery Creek Big Hole, one of Central Australia’s most pristine water holes. Don’t forget your swimmers - if it's warm enough for a swim you'll want to dive right in!

Later, on the drive back to Alice Springs, soak up the sunset over the stunning ranges The panoramic landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges and the spectacular array of sunburnt oranges, maroons, and purples will be a site you'll never forget.  

This is a one day tour, starting in Alice Springs at 7.45 am and finishing in Alice Springs at approximately 5.30 pm.

We leave Alice Springs at approximately 7:45 am and return to Alice Springs at around 5:30 pm.

Yes. Children aged 2 years and over are welcome on our tour. Children aged 2-15 and charged $99 per person.

Travel voucher, water bottle (capacity 1 litre), strong non-slip walking shoes, hat (wide brimmed is best), Flynet, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, casual and comfortable clothing (cool, light clothing is best in summer and warm clothing for winter), swim wear & towel (during summer only).

We have a maximum of 24 people on each tour. You will travel in a comfortable air conditioned bus.

  • We provide healthy, quality meals on our tours. We are able to cater for one of the following special dietary requests upon request: vegetarian, gluten free or dairy free. If you have a food allergy (eg peanuts) please advise at the time of booking and carry any necessary medication with you on tour.
  • All travellers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will be responsible for their care. We have no upper age limit on our tours, although some trips can be physically demanding.
  • Each of our tours is run by a tour guide who will be in charge of making decisions relating to the safety and well-being of the group. Any passengers who do not comply with the tour guides decisions or act in a manner where they may interfere with the safety or well-being of others in the group may be asked to leave the tour. No refund will be given under these circumstances.


Cancellation Policy:

Day Tours & Transfers:

  • 30 days or more prior to departure - 25% cancellation fee on full cost of tour
  • 4-29 days prior to departure - 50% cancellation fee on full cost of tour
  • Within 3 days of departure - 100% cancellation fee on full cost of tour

All booking amendments must be emailed. The following applies to changes to tour type or departure date of an existing booking:

  • 8 days or more from departure - $50 admin fee as well as any difference in tour prices will apply
  • Within 7 days of departure - full cancellation fees and the full cost of the new tour will apply
  • Please note: if you fail to join a tour, join it after departure, or leave it prior to its completion, no refund will be given.
