WHAT TO EXPECT
Experience the magnificent grandeur of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Marvel at towering fiery red walls and desert dunes illuminated by the desert sun as you drive along the ranges. Stop at beautiful gorges and waterholes, call into Glen Helen and Simpson's Gap, and snap some water shots at Ellery Creek Bighole. You'll catch some seriously beautiful sites on this tour, so make sure your camera is charged and your eyes are open!
Your Emu Run guide will collect you from outside your Alice Springs accommodation at 7.45am. Hop on the bus and head out on your desert adventure!
Spectacular outback scenery and photo opportunities await as you travel along the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges, stopping at historic sites and natural wonders. You'll get to enjoy beautiful walks at Simpsons Gap and the Ochre Pits, and stop at Standley Chasm for a morning tea in the bush.
Later, explore Ormiston Gorge and tuck into a delicious lunch before taking a stroll around the area.
Your next stop is at Glen Helen, home to a classic old homestead and a picturesque backdrop. Take a break with a cool drink on the restaurant's verandah before hitting the road again.
In the afternoon, it's time to head to Ellery Creek Big Hole, one of Central Australia’s most pristine water holes. Don’t forget your swimmers - if it's warm enough for a swim you'll want to dive right in!
Later, on the drive back to Alice Springs, soak up the sunset over the stunning ranges The panoramic landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges and the spectacular array of sunburnt oranges, maroons, and purples will be a site you'll never forget.
