We recommend you bring your own helmet, as this will likely be the most comfortable for you, however if you don’t have your own, helmet hire is included as part of the bike hire
-
Rain gear – pack a light poncho in case the weather turns when you’re out on the road
-
Light breathable waterproof/windproof jacket – especially useful for those early mornings or downhill sections when the wind chill becomes a factor
-
Water bottle – we don't provide bottles but all our bikes have one bottle holder fitted (and a second one can be fitted if required). Please bring a cycling-specific water bottle as other types will fall out of the holders. A Camelbak will make drinking on the go easier
-
Sunglasses
-
Day pack – our support vehicle will carry your main bag, but a day pack for snacks and clothes is a good idea
-
Suncream – please bring a high protection factor (e.g. SPF 50) sunscreen
-
Shoes – normal sports shoes can be worn on all of our trips however you may want to consider a flat shoe with a relatively stiff sole as it makes pedalling a lot more efficient. Regular cyclists are welcome to bring their own cycling-specific shoes however we recommend 'mountain bike' style shoes that have a grip on the sole rather than road bike shoes as you will still be walking around while on the rides (cafe/photo/toilet stops, etc.). For safety reasons, we require that you wear shoes that completely cover the toes while riding.

As space in our support vehicle/transport can be limited we request that you bring only a small luggage bag with you rather than larger bags or suitcases
The beauty of our style of travel is that it caters to travellers who are travelling solo and who want to meet and share experiences with like-minded people.
Rooming is organised on a twin-share basis. We pair up solo travellers with another traveller of the same gender.
We also have an optional single supplement available on most trips for travellers who prefer to have their own room. This will apply to all nights on the tour.
Yes! Please contact our helpful support team on support@backpackerdeals.com or see our live chat!

Please take this into consideration when booking your arrival and departure travel arrangements.
This trip can be enjoyed by just about anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. Some trips may have individual inclusions that may be of a higher physical rating compared to the overall rating of the trip. Please read the day-to-day itinerary carefully to find out more details on each day's activities, and whether they are suitable for you. Activities can be opted out of if you don't want to participate.
Minimum age is 15 years.
All countries require a valid passport (with a minimum 6 months validity).
Contact your local embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements, or see your travel agent.
It is your own responsibility to have the correct travel documentation. Visa requirements for your trip will vary depending on where you are from and where you are going.
Yes, travel insurance is compulsory on this trip.
Every traveller is different and therefore spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while other travellers like to purchase more souvenirs than most. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping and tipping. Please also remember the following specific recommendations when planning your trip.
You can have a plate of food for a street vendor for AU$10-$20, however there are always more expensive options. From a mid-range, sit-down restaurant, expect to pay AU$20-$80 - not including alcohol.
Due to limited vehicle space and strictly enforced road laws regarding weight limits, your main piece of luggage must be soft-sided and weigh no more than 15kg/33lb. You can also bring a day pack/bag to carry water, a camera, sunscreen, etc. when you're exploring during the day. Please note that The Operator is unable to carry large suitcases, particularly hard/externally framed suitcases, as they are difficult to store and can damage equipment and other travellers' belongings.
Enjoy 5 nights of hotel accommodation in a twin-share room, including 5 breakfasts and 1 lunch.
While travelling, you'll experience the vast array of wonderful food available in the world. Your group leader will be able to suggest restaurants to try during your trip. To give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat, generally, not all meals are included in the trip price. This also gives you more budgeting flexibility. As a rule, the groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. If you have dietary requirements and/or food allergies, please let your booking agent know prior to departure.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
Australia eats multi-culturally. Everything from meat pies to ramen, tacos, curries, rice and pasta are part of the national diet. Vegetarians and vegans are well-catered for in Australia, and most restaurants and cafes will have a good selection of vegetarian meals. Gluten and lactose-free diets are also well-catered for. However, because this trip travels to the remote Outback of South Australia, the choices of where to eat will be limited, and not all dietary needs may be able to be met.
