Our Philip Island Penguin Parade tour gives you a unique opportunity to get up and close with some of Australia&rsquo;s most iconic animals. During this fun day tour, we&rsquo;ll visit two of Melbourne&rsquo;s most stunning islands: Churchill island and Phillip island. You&rsquo;ll be busy taking in the stunning scenery and learning about the wildlife we meet on our way. &nbsp;

Hang out with kangaroos and rare birds 
 
After picking up all our lovely guests in Melbourne, we kick off the adventure by heading south-east towards Western Port. From here, you&rsquo;ll be able to see French Island which used to be a penal colony back in the day. 
 
We&rsquo;ll continue out to charming Churchill Island. We&rsquo;re pretty sure you&rsquo;ll fall in love with this little piece of Victorian history. All over the tiny island, you&rsquo;ll see cottage gardens and restored farmhouses. It&rsquo;s a fun way to peak into the past and see how the early European settlers used to farm and live in Australia. 
 
Although the farmhouses are nice to look at, they&rsquo;re not the reason we take you out to Churchill Island.&nbsp; We&rsquo;re here because the island is famous for being a bit of a bird-watching paradise (shoulder and summer months only). The mangroves and wetlands in the area are excellent breeding grounds for heaps of migratory birds. This includes rare wading birds, mutton birds, pelicans, royal spoonbills, straw-necked ibis, swans, little pied cormorants and, of course, the hooded plover. Keep your eyes and ears open because they&rsquo;re not always easy to spot! 
 
While we&rsquo;re on Churchill Island, we&rsquo;ll also say hi to the local kangaroos and wallabies. You&rsquo;ll soon realize that of the two, the wallabies are definitely more shy than the kangaroos. It doesn&rsquo;t take much to get close to a kangaroo whereas the wallabies are a bit harder to become friends with. 
 
Before we leave Churchill Island you&rsquo;ll have time to buy yourself a nice cup of afternoon tea. With renewed energy, we&rsquo;ll then continue down to the fishing village of San Remo. 
 
See koalas in their natural habitat 
 
San Remo is the gateway to the neighboring and equally beautiful Phillip Island. Despite being only 100 square kilometers big, Phillip Island is a major tourist attraction in Melbourne. Thousands of tourists and locals head to the beautiful island in the summer to enjoy the natural beauty and unique wildlife. 
 
On Phillip Island, we&rsquo;ll visit the fun and interesting Koala Conservation Centre. Here, you&rsquo;ll get the chance to observe koalas in their natural habitat. You&rsquo;ll be able to stroll through the eucalyptus woodland on the centre&rsquo;s fantastic tree top boardwalk. Along the way, there will be close viewing areas where you can get up and personal with these cute little guys. 
 
You&rsquo;re guaranteed to get some awesome photos, so remember to bring your camera!&nbsp; 
 
We&rsquo;ll also stop by Seal Rocks which is home to Australia&rsquo;s largest fur seal colony. While we&rsquo;re there, you&rsquo;ll have time to walk on the boardwalk overlooking the Nobbies (seasonal). The view of the coast is pretty spectacular so prepare to be amazed! 
 
Watch the Penguin Parade 
 
To round off this amazing day, we&rsquo;ll then watch the incredible Penguin Parade. This is truly the highlight of our tour and you won&rsquo;t be able to resist the cuteness of the world&rsquo;s smallest penguins. 
 
Every day when the sun goes down, thousands of little penguins start making their way back to the island from the sea. During the day, they get as far as 100 km from the island&rsquo;s beach but they always swim back for the night. Once the parade starts, we&rsquo;ll be able to see how the penguins waddle across the beach to their burrows. It&rsquo;s a fantastic sight that you won&rsquo;t forget anytime soon! 
 
After the parade, we&rsquo;ll drop by the visitors centre called Penguins World where we&rsquo;ll learn much more about these fascinating little penguins. We recommend you bring warm waterproof clothes for this part of the tour as it normally gets a little chilly at nighttime on the island. 
 
Departure information 
 
Our fun tour departs daily at 1.15 pm and returns at 11.30 pm (even on Christmas Day). 
 
We do pick-ups from the following locations: Melbourne Day Tour Centre, Federation Square East, the corner of Flinders &amp; Russell streets or your Melbourne CBD hotel. In some cases we may need to pick you up from a nearby hotel if we cannot pick up directly from your accommodation due to restrictions beyond our control.
