What to Expect
A fascinating country with something for every visitor to enjoy during their time there, Thailand is a must-visit bucket list destination that is best explored on this 10 Day Essential Thailand Tour.
Handpicked by Thai travel experts who are redefining this holiday hotspot, this tour pays particular attention to sustainability, local interactions, natural beauty and unique activities - including sleeping in a traditional ‘float house’ in Khao Sok.
Bangkok: Discover a place where modern skyscrapers and traditional dwellings sit side by side in harmony, where the local way of life has remained largely unchanged for generations.
Khao Sok: Despite being regarded as an established destination, Khao Sok retains all the qualities that initially put the region on the map for the more intrepid traveler. Largely unspoilt, Khao Sok is a favourite for many, from experienced travellers to those experiencing Thailand for the very first time.
Koh Phangan: Although primarily known (and loved) as being a party island, Koh Phangan boasts a number of beautiful, lesser-known spots…you just need to know where to look! On this tour, you’ll get to explore everything from hidden beaches to idyllic waterfall treks and so, so much more!
Where we visit
Day 1: Bangkok Arrival and Welcome Dinner
After your arrival at Bangkok (BKK) Airport, a tour team leader will meet you and transfer you to your Bangkok accommodation.
Alternatively, you can ‘make your own way’ to the arrival accommodation after 14:00pm where staff will have your name and be able to check you into your room.
Once all travellers have arrived, head out for dinner and drinks together to explore the lively Khao San Road area, including the countless bars and restaurants that are scattered throughout this famous strip!
Please note: Arrivals into BKK Airport must be between 06:00 and 22:00.
Accommodation: During your time in Bangkok, guests will stay in dorm rooms at the Bed Station Hostel Khaosan. Complete with an on-site bar, you can make the most of the hostel’s shared facilities and make some new friends, or venture out to local attractions like the Grand Palace - which is just a 15 minute walk away, or Tom Yum Kung which offers delicious Asian and Thai food options and is located a 5 minute walk away.
Day 2: Full Day Bangkok Tour
After breakfast on Day 2, stick around for a quick orientation/chat about your trip before hitting the streets of Bangkok! Today, you will experience some of the most famous sites of the capital including the Temple of Dawn, Wat Arun and the Giant Golden Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho) plus a quintessential trip on a classic long tailed boat ride.
Day 3: Transfer to Surat Thani
Enjoy some free time today before your flight to Surat Thani.
Translating to the ‘City of the Good People’, Surat Thani is also known as ‘the province of a thousand islands’, due to its close proximity to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, and the Mu Koh Ang Thong Marine national park.
Day 4: Surat Thani to Khao Sok National Park – 2 Day 1 Night Experience
Today you’ll meet your local guide for an orientation regarding your overnight experience on Khao Sok Lake.
After the briefing you will be transferred to Khao Sok Pier, where you will take a longtail boat stopping at a few scenic locations on route to the floating raft house accommodation.
A delicious lunch will be served upon arrival, fuelling you up for afternoon activities including a visit to a local waterfall and/or trek to a viewpoint. You’ll then return to the rafthouse to relax for a few hours before enjoying a complimentary dinner.
Please note: Just pack a small bag for your stay on the lake. There is a safe room to store your luggage at the local office.
Accommodation: Spend an unforgettable night in a floating bungalow on the Khao Sok Lake. Each offering their own unique charm, these authentic Thai raft houses are popular accommodations for world travellers visiting Khao Sok National Park.
Serene and secluded, staying in a floating bungalow is an experience you’ll never forget.
Day 5: Khao Sok Lake + Wildlife Safari
Today you transfer to Koh Phangan, but first - enjoy an early morning wildlife safari by longtail boat!
Returning back to the lakehouse in time for a fresh breakfast, you’ll get the chance to relax, swim or even use the kayaks prior to an 11am check out.
Once in Koh Phangan, someone from your hotel will be waiting to pick you up at the Thong Sala pier where your next adventure begins!
Accommodation: During your four nights in Koh Phangan, you’ll stay in a Standard Bungalow in the Sunset Beach Villas. Discover island life at its best, with the villas located just 5 mins walk to the city and Thailand’s world-famous Full Moon Party.
These cosy cottages have private balconies overlooking tropical greenery and the sea, with an outdoor seating area and hot water showers also included in all rooms.
Day 6 to Day 8: Free Days in Koh Phangan
This is the perfect time for those looking to pick their own adventure while in Koh Phangan.
Boasting a small stretch of private beach, Sunset Beach Villas is just a 25-minute drive from Thongsala Pier. Dining options and shops at Haad Rin Centre are also within a 10-minute stroll from the resort.
Or, you can experience one of Koh Phangan’s Full Moon Parties. Attrattracting a colorful crowd of travelers from all over the world, tickets to these full moon parties are usually sold in the main alleys that lead to the area, with attendees encouraged to get in the spirit and wear UV paint on the night.
There are also food stalls everywhere so you can grab a snack and pop-up bars mean you can buy drinks on every corner - although it is the safest if you buy at the main party venues.
Returning for the first time post-Covid in 2022, these parties are bound to be some of the biggest and best in the event’s history.
Day 9: Koh Phangan – Bangkok
Today, you’ll catch both a ferry and a flight on your journey back to Bangkok. Your hotel from the beginning of the tour awaits you. Enjoy one last night together with your tour group as you hit the much-loved Khao San Road.
Day 10: End of Tour
Sadly, Day 10 marks the end of your Essential Thailand Tour. With complimentary transfers to Bangkok Airport included, you’ll be able to depart the island from 11am.

Travelling is a huge contributor to global emissions and our current climate crisis. We need to protect our planet, the destinations we love to visit and combat climate change. It is important we all work towards lowering our carbon footprint home and abroad. However, the reality is when we travel we cannot avoid the ‘black stuff’. For what we cannot reduce we can offset. This is carbon neutral travel. Through Gold Standard we measure our trips footprint, reduce where possible and offset the balance.
Thailand can be cheap. You can still have a plate of food for a street vendor for under $3 AUD however there are always more expensive options. From a sit down Thai restaurant, expect to pay $10-$15 AUD - not including alcohol.
