Get ready for the ride of your life!
Day 1 - Christchurch - Mt Hutt
Kia Ora and welcome to Christchurch. Your adventure starts bright and early at 6.30 am at Haka Lodge. There's a whole day ahead of you, so hit the road straight away.
Head to Mount Hutt, collecting your equipment along the way. Are you ready for a day on the slopes?
Located high in the Southern Alps, Canterbury’s Mt. Hutt Ski Area receives some of the lightest and driest powder in Australasia. A mountain of 365 skiable hectares, this ski field is an awesome winter experience for all skiers - beginners to seasoned snow bunnies.
For those after a thrill, check out the many black diamond runs on the mountains South Face. Extreme skiers and boarders can enjoy practising as many different challenges here and novice skiers will enjoy navigating the wide, open trails to build on their skills.
Day Two - Ohau
Today, you head to Ohau, a remote ski field located between Christchurch and Queenstown.
There are snow adventures for all abilities here, from 20% beginner, 50% intermediate and 30% advanced ratings.
If you're an intermediate skier check out the zig-zag ‘Luge’, or for experts, hit the ‘High Traverse’ and the ‘Escalator’ to push your limits!
Ohau offers exquisite dry powder snow terrain and gets you off the tourist trail to experience the awesome range of ski fields available in the South Island of New Zealand.
In the evening, drive to Wanaka for some rest before an early start in the morning.
Day 3 - Treble Cone
Welcome to the largest ski area in the South Island. In the heart of the Southern Alps, this area has stunning views of lakeside Wanaka.
There's plenty of exciting skiing and snowboarding terrain, and trails to suit all abilities.
Opt for the purpose-built learner area if you're just starting out, or hit the intermediate trails for more of a challenge. If you're really after a thrill, try out some of the natural half pipes on the upper mountain and the challenging advanced runs and ungroomed powder.
Treble Cone also boasts New Zealand's fastest quad chairlift, so you can enjoy more runs per day than anywhere else! The chairlift offers the highest lift-accessed terrain, longest groomed intermediate runs, and the highest vertical drop in the South Island.
You won't need to worry about the weather here either. Treble Cone's proximity to the Southern Alps means reliable snow conditions and climate, and importantly, means it is protected from the bitterly cold southerly winds.
After your day in the snow, head back down to Wanaka for après-ski heaven. There's a huge number of places to dine, drink and dance the night away so enjoy some downtime after your busy day.
Day 4 - Cardrona
Get ready for another day of snow fun and adventure. Cardrona is famous among skiers and snowboarders for its terrain and natural dry snow. There are 320 hectares of trails, slopes and chutes here, so you'll be able to spend a day exploring and trying out the different runs.
Large parts of the mountain are serviced by chairlifts, so there's no standing around in queues - access is easy and waiting is rare. There's also five cafes, a shop, hire facilities and a workshop on the mountain, so if you need a break from skiing, there's plenty to do.
Day 5 - Queenstown
Take a break from the slopes today and explore iconic Queenstown. Take part in some adventure activities, go heli-skiing or just explore the town.
Want to soak up some of the South's incredible nature? A trip to the Milford Sound is also a great way to spend the day.
Whatever you decide, you'll definitely be ticking some things off your bucket list today.
Day 6 - Queenstown - The Remarkables
Today is full of stunning South Island nature. Wide open trails, native Keas, powder snow, spectacular views, sun-drenched terrain and unforgettable runs are all waiting. This is terrain like you've never seen before.
The Remarks (as it’s known to the locals) is set high in the rugged ranges at the eastern end of Queenstown’s Lake Wakatipu. High in the clouds, the ski filed has a long, reliable season and is full of sunlight.
The highest ski field in Queenstown at 1935 metres, The Remarks has something for everyone. Try out one of the most memorable runs in New Zealand: the long, fast sweep called Homeward Bound.
This is a great place to learn to ski, or to test out the skills you've learnt in your trip so far! With sheltered bowls, all accessed by chairlifts, nearly three-quarters of the slopes are rated beginner to intermediate.
If you do want more of a thrill, there's also plenty of off-piste challenges and a new international standard SuperPipe for advanced level riders and skiers!
Day 7 - Queenstown to Coronet Peak
Welcome to the oldest ski area in the South Island. It's the most developed too, so get ready for some incredible on-field facilities. Everything here will ensure your experience is a great one.
A sunny, wide field spread across the mountain, there's a variety runs here and trails to suit every level. Try out the dedicated beginner slopes, hit the longer trails or enjoy some dips and drops if you're a seasoned skier.
Coronet Peak has the goods for boarders too. A natural terrain park, full of endless hits and powder stashes, snowboarding's never been this good!
Ski/snowboard here until mid-afternoon, then hit the road again back to Christchurch.
You'll arrive back at Haka Lodge at approximately 10.00 pm and there is the option of booking an extra night’s accommodation in Christchurch or extending your stay in Queenstown post tour.
This is a 7-day tour starting and finishing in Christchurch.
