The Famous 5 is an active style, nature-based tour, involving guided short walks in our National Parks every day. 

This tour involves easy to moderate walks each day ranging from 20 minutes up to 4 hours on varied terrain. A moderate fitness level will ensure that guests can enjoy the activities and experiences on offer.

All walks are optional and, in many locations, there is a choice between an easier or more advanced option.

Example walks: Russell Falls (Easy), Dove Lake Circuit and Wineglass Bay Lookout (Moderate), Mt Amos (Difficult).

Bring clothing that suits the season, while including warm clothes (it can get cold in the mountains), comfortable walking shoes, toiletries, a towel, hat, sunscreen, waterproof jacket, swimsuit, water bottle and camera. Luggage is restricted to one normal pack, bag or case (20kg) plus a small day pack.

All tours are self-catering; there are plenty of food stops where you can purchase from restaurants, cafes, takeaways or even supermarkets should you be accommodated in a hostel and wish to use the hostel’s kitchen facilities. Some tours include samplings of local foods as per the itinerary. 

This tour gives you the flexibility to choose where you eat and to enjoy local seasonal produce, while supporting local farmers and businesses.

The tours on offer are designed to help you see as much of Tasmania as possible with like minded travelers. There is no maximum age provided you have a good sense of adventure and a reasonable level of fitness, however, there is a minimum age of 8 years old to ensure all passengers get the most from the tour!

The maximum group size is 24 passengers plus the tour guide. These small group sizes allow you plenty of time to get to know your fellow passengers and guide.

Tours are conducted in modern, comfortable air-conditioned buses. By having small groups, it means you can spend as much time as possible outside the bus exploring the wonderful sights of Tasmania.

 We endeavour to make our small group tours as accessible as possible. We invite persons with disabilities to enquire about our tours to discuss any requirements and expectations.

No, You will need to arrive into your departure city at least the day before your tour is scheduled to depart, due to the early start to our day tours and multi-day tours you cannot arrive the same day your tour is set to depart.
