Down Under Cruise and Dive is located in Australia's far tropical north Queensland in the township of Cairns, the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef and Daintree National Parks.
EVOLUTION departs Cairns daily offering a fast, comfortable and affordable cruise, with five hours spent visiting two spectacular Outer Great Barrier Reef destinations. This large modern vessel provides a superior ride in all weather conditions, no big crowds and exclusive, protected Reef locations. Professional, friendly and attentive staff ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Which reefs do we go to?
We have 12 exclusive moorings at six reef locations.
Locations are chosen each day based on weather conditions and water clarity so as to ensure the best experience for all activities.
Generally, we travel to one of our two outer reef locations in the morning (Norman Reef or Saxon Reef) then make our way to north Hastings Reef in the afternoon to conduct helicopter flights and our semi-submersible tour.
We have selected our outer reef locations for their variety and bottom contours, so to provide the best experience for both beginners, experienced snorkellers and children of all ages.
Our staff keep a constant watch over the snorkelling sites making sure all passengers can enjoy the amazing wildlife in perfect safety. Our snorkel supervisors are all experienced dive-masters and provide in-depth briefings on safety procedures and site orientation, so you know where to find all the 'cool stuff'.
For beginners, we offer one-on-one tuition on gear use and snorkelling techniques, a selection of buoyancy aids (foam noodles, life jackets) and FREE snorkel guides are available all day to guide you through the natural maze of beautiful coral and fishes.
Wetsuits are not included in the gear as they are not essential, the water is pretty warm. If you want to a wetsuit, it's an extra $10 to be paid on the boat.
For first time divers; after an in-depth briefing from our expert dive staff, we gear you up and jump in the water. After 5 minutes you will have the choice to keep diving, for an extra $70 as we guide you through this underwater wonderland. Or you can choose to stop there, free of charge.
For certified divers; either buddy up with a friend or join our guides as we push the limits and explore more incredible ecology of the reef.
In the afternoon there's a choice of a semi-submersible boat tour (weather dependent and costs $10 pre-booked or pay on board), more snorkelling, diving, or just laze around on our massive sun-deck.
Upon request and availability, you can go on a helicopter scenic tour for an additional $145 per person.
Finally, cruise back to Cairns while enjoying our on-board entertainer as he sings and performs his famous didgeridoo show.
