There is no doubt that the best way to really experience the Great Barrier Reef is to stay out there for a few days. You get much more time to relax and really enjoy yourself and ultimately more time for diving and snorkelling. You'll get to participate in up to 11 dives, 9 during the day and 2 at night. You may snorkel as well to experience a large variety of fantastic outer reef locations.

We have 16 exclusive dive sites on 4 different outer reef locations and we visit a selection of these sites on every trip. These sites have been selected for their variety and quality of both coral and marine life as well as great visibility. We rarely dive the same site more than twice.

Our 3 premium, purpose-built, multimillion-dollar dive vessels provide the ideal way to stay out and experience what the reef has to offer. These vessels are 25 metres (80 feet) in length and feature 14 twin share and 2 double cabins with shared amenities (8 shared bathrooms total). The vessels are centrally air-conditioned, light and airy. There are 2 large decks, one for gear and one strictly for sun tanning and relaxing. These vessels are the only purpose-built outer reef liveaboards operating in the area.<br /><br />The night before departure:
If you have time we suggest you drop into our retail shop, located on the corner of Shields and Grafton Streets, where you can arrange your dive equipment for the trip. So you won’t have to do it at 06:00 on the morning of your trip.

Day 1: Diving the Outer Great Barrier Reef 
05:45 - 06:15: Complimentary hotel transfer is available from Cairns City and Northern Beaches accommodations. 
06:15 - 07:00: Stop at Pro Dive retail shop.
Check in at Pro Dive retail shop located at the corner of Grafton Streets and Shields.
07:00 - 11:30: Depart from Cairns for 3 days and 2 nights of fantastic diving/snorkelling at the Great Barrier Reef. A light breakfast is served onboard.
11:30 - 12:45: Your first dive is before lunch. This dive will be offered as a guided dive with an instructor, for those divers who have not dived in a little while.
12:45 - 14:30: Lunch is served. Enjoy hearty soup with an array of fresh salads, cold meats and bread rolls.
14:30 - 16:30: Your second dive 
Discover more underwater delights. Once you have completed your dive the vessel moves on to the next site.
16:30 - 18:00: After an afternoon of snorkelling /relaxing it will then be time for your third dive of the trip.
18:00 - 19:30: The menu changes on each trip however it will be wholesome, hot and of course lots of it.
19:30 - 20:30: Time for a night dive. We generally try to do the night dive at the same site as the afternoon dive, as this way you are familiar with your surroundings. Keep a close eye out for our sleeping turtles, crustaceans and the occasional reef shark.
20:30: Relax and enjoy the delicious dessert served to you.

Day 2: Experience more fantastic diving on the Outer Great Barrier Reef 
07:00 - 08:00: The early morning dive. The vessel moves for an early morning dive. Look out for splendid gorgonian fans, giant clams and bump headed parrot-fish.
08:00 - 10:30:  Enjoy a hearty breakfast of cereal, fresh fruit, bacon and eggs as well as toast and spreads.
10:30 - 12:00: Your second dive for the day. After breakfast, the vessel moves on for the second dive of the day.
12:00 - 15:00: Lunch on the second day is hot pasta with a variety of fresh salads.
15:00 - 18:00: Your third dive. After lunch and a snorkel, it is time for your third dive.
18:00 - 19:30: A hot dinner is served before your second-night dive.
19:30 - 20:30: Time for another night dive. Experience the night dive at this site to marvel at the diverse marine life.
20:30: Hot dessert is served. Enjoy it in the company of fellow passengers.

Day 3: Morning dives and return to Cairns 
06:30 - 07:30:  Your first dive of the day. Take this early morning dive to get a fresh start of the day. Catch the live undersea action.
07:30 - 09:00: A hot breakfast accompanied with fresh fruit salad, cereals and toast.
09:00 - 11:00:  Second dive of the day. After breakfast, the vessel makes its last site of the trip, where you will do your second dive of the day.
11:00 - 16:00:  Your last dive. Freshly made sandwiches are served as the vessel heads home.
16:00 - 19:30: Complimentary accommodation transfers to Cairns city and Northern Beaches available.
19:30: Join fellow passengers and crew at a local restaurant for a farewell dinner if you wish.

What to Bring:
Overnight bag with comfortable clothing and toiletries, towels (one for the ocean and another one for showering), swimwear, sunscreen and a hat.

Conditions:
Pro Dive Cairns certified dives are generally unguided. We recommend that all our divers take out travel insurance. We recommend that you wait 24 hours after diving before flying. Please note, the itinerary is a guide only, and the order of sites may change. The captain will always adapt the itinerary to the prevailing weather, tides and currents. Meals may vary slightly depending on availability of seasonal fruit and vegetables. Please advise if you are a vegetarian and we will do our best to make sure we cater for you. 

Restrictions:
Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. You will be required to obtain a dive medical certificate if you answer 'yes' to any of the questions on the Entry Level Student Diver Medical Declaration. This must be valid within 90 days of commencing the course and must be done before you start with us. If you wait until arrival into Cairns, your medical can be done at the 'Cairns 24 Hour Medical Centre' for an extra fee.
