WHAT TO EXPECT
KAWARAU RIVER GRADE: 2-3
TRIP DURATION: HALF DAY (4.5 HOURS)
The Kawarau River is set amongst majestic canyons that impart a feeling of cruising through the Middle Earth. Famously used as the filming spot for the 'Anduin River' that starred in the Lord of the Rings, this place is truly magical and a must-do when visiting Queenstown. It is the ideal spot for first-time rafters looking for a more relaxed rafting experience and it is suitable for all ages and abilities. There is plenty of white water action, however, including the 400m long 'Dop Leg rapid', which is NZ's longest commercially rafted rapid. Between each rapid, there will be plenty of time to sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery. At the end of your experience, you’ll return to Queenstown for a hot shower at our Rafting Base which is connected to the awesome Canyon Brewing.
