This tour starts at our very own Haka Lodge Christchurch, 518 Linwood Ave, Christchurch at&nbsp;8 am on Day 1.

Many of our customers stay at Haka Lodge the night before the tour starts which means a super relaxed start to the tour and an informal chance to meet everyone before the tour. If you wish to do this, you can add the extra night as you build your tour.

On the final day, we take the world famous Tranz Alpine Express Train from Greymouth to Christchurch. This train journey is rated one of the top 10 train journeys in the world as the scenery is simply spectacular! This means the tour ends at Christchurch Rail Station at 6pm.

There are shuttle buses that take you into the city centre for around $5 and for all you staying at Haka Lodge after your tour, a group taxi will cost just a few dollars each. There is a busy taxi stand directly outside the train station.

A high number of people stay at Haka Lodge the night the tour ends but if you are needing to depart immediately, we suggest booking flights for anytime later than 8pm.

Itinerary

We start and end our South Island trip in Christchurch. We will be making a clockwise loop to soak up the spectacular alpine surroundings of Lake Tekapo and Wanaka. We will also be spending 2 nights in lovely Queenstown.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

The trip starts at 8 am at our accommodation in Haka Lodge (or Haka HQ), Christchurch.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Along the way, we included some special extras, such as a Gondola ride taking in stunning views of Queenstown. On our last day, we will travel from one coast to another, crossing the Southern Alps on the Tranz Alpine Express.

&nbsp;

You can build your own tour online and add many optional activities. None of these activities are compulsory, however. Unsure about which ones to choose? No problem. Once you have paid a deposit and secured your seat, you can always add activities until 30 days prior to departure.

You can also pay for activities on the road - just inform your tour guide and he will be happy to help. However, availability cannot always be guaranteed when booking on the road. We suggest pre-booking any activities you definitely want to do.&nbsp;

Christchurch was seriously damaged by earthquakes a couple of years ago. Today the city is undergoing an impressive transformation. It offers nothing but potential.

&nbsp;

We will explore the iconic downtown area. We will find out in which amazing ways the whole city has reunited to rebuild their place. You will find many quirky shops, specialised cafes and characteristic spots to dine. Not to mention the young fun Kiwi culture! Christchurch is hot!

&nbsp;

We will then leave Christchurch and make our way to Tekapo. One of New Zealand&rsquo;s most famous lakes. The bright turquoise Lake Tekapo, surrounded by the jagged Southern Alps, will most certainly take your breath away.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

How could a lake possibly be so bright blue? Minerals left by ancient glaciers are the cause of its magical turquoise-coloured water. And that is not all! Towering mountains and pink and purple Lupin flowers along its banks make the lake almost seem surreal.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

After sunset, it gets even better. The area around Tekapo is known as a &quot;Star Reserve&quot; thanks to its incredibly clear skies. It is the ultimate place in New Zealand to see the stars and galaxies. Watch the stars appear over the lake from the hostel that&rsquo;s just a few feet from the shore.

Then we are off to Wanaka. We will stop at New Zealand&rsquo;s oldest pub for a drink or two in Cardrona. Then we continue our journey towards Wanaka, a stunning lakeside holiday town.

Wanaka is a year round destination, surrounded by majestic mountains and a glacial blue lake. There is a thriving young vibe in the town and plenty of things to do. In the warmer months, you can do tons of lake activities. Go for a swim or try out waterskiing, wakeboarding or kayaking. Or how about a beautiful hike or bike ride. Go all around the lake and admire its surrounding natural beauty.&nbsp; 
&nbsp; 
In winter, Wanaka is one of the most popular snow sports destinations in New Zealand. There are several great ski fields close to the town. At the end of an active day, you can hit the cafes on the lakefront and enjoy a well-deserved drink with the group.

Wanaka

Queenstown - Wanaka

Is there a better way to start your day than with a thrilling skydive over Wanaka? Take in the stunning glaciers. Later in the day, you can admire the same glaciers from a different viewpoint. We will even get to see Mr. Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand. Or how about going back in time? Take a flight over the town and lake in a vintage Tiger Moth biplane. 
&nbsp; 
You can also mountain bike along the lake or climb up the iconic Mt. Iron in town for some nice views. If you want to keep your day less adventurous, you can visit the iconic Puzzling World. Have some fun and try out all the games and activities. 
&nbsp; 
We will then head towards the wild west coast of the South Island. We will be crossing the beautiful mountains in Haast and get a good view of the sea.

&nbsp;

Get excited for one of the most iconic and scenic road trips around New Zealand. Apart from the stunning west coast views, there are plenty of other surprises and secret spots to dsicover today. 
&nbsp; 
The whitebait season is between September and December. Whitebait is a small fish that is a delicacy in New Zealand. They serve it fried up with eggs and on toast. It is a local treat that you definitely have to try! We will stop at one of the secret local spots to try it out.

Franz Josef

Wanaka - Franz Josef

A South Island trip is not complete without seeing at least one of the glaciers. The Fox and Franz Josef glaciers are world-famous. They are relatively easily accessible and descend to a low level. Nevertheless, they no longer extend far enough down their valleys to reach the forest.

&nbsp;

A very popular way of visiting the glacier is by helicopter. There are also some Heli-hike options. We really recommend a Heli-hike if you can afford it. It brings you to the most amazing blue ice! Unfortunately, the Half Day Glacier Hike is currently not available. The bottom of the glacier is too unstable.

&nbsp;

Trekking on the glacier is doable and not as challenging as it sounds. If the trekking still does not really appeal to you, the guide can bring you as close to the bottom of the glacier as possible. In the afternoon, you can take part in adventurous quad biking (booked on the day). Or go horse trekking, relax in the spa pool or TV lounge of the hostel or enjoy a drink in the bars and cafes.&nbsp;

As it is our last night of the South Island tour, we often celebrate all the good times we have had with a farewell party.

Our last day will be there before we know it! After having breakfast, we will continue along the beautiful west coast. Get ready for one of the most stunning drives in the world. A rugged landscape of green rainforest against breath-taking ocean waves and beaches.

&nbsp;

We will be passing through Ross. An ancient gold-mining town. During the gold rush era in the second half of the 19th century, the west coast was opened up more and more for settlement. Before, a small number of Maori were searching the area for greenstone, or Jade. We also have the chance to stop at Hokitika. There we can visit a greenstone factory to see how it is used for jewellery and other ornaments. You can even buy some of them as a souvenir.

&nbsp;

If there is enough time, we can visit the National Kiwi Centre. The centre has a nocturnal house with rare Kiwi birds that can be viewed.

&nbsp;

On the way back to Christchurch, we will take the breath-taking Tranz Alpine Train Crossing. We will travel across the Southern Alps through Arthur&rsquo;s Pass. We will arrive back at Christchurch by 6:05 pm to say our final goodbyes and go our separate ways.

Age/Child Policy

The supplier offers&rsquo; adventure, snow and mountain-biking tours across New Zealand that are designed for travellers that are young of heart and ready for a good time. To travel with the supplier, the supplier requires that you are at the minimum age limit of 18 years at time of travel. Anyone over the age of 50 years is more than welcome on the supplier&rsquo;s tours but please be aware that a moderate level of fitness is required whilst on tour, so the supplier does recommend that you are relatively fit, healthy and looking for the adventure of a lifetime. If you have any concerns surrounding your age and whether or not the supplier&rsquo;s tours will be suitable for you, please do not hesitate to contact the supplier and the supplier will be more than happy to discuss your options.

Passports &amp; Visas

All travellers must have a valid passport for international travel and many countries require at least 6 months validity from the date of return and some countries require a machine-readable passport. It is important that you ensure that you have valid passports, visas and re-entry permits which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be your sole responsibility. Luggage Limits

Within New Zealand travel, each passenger is entitled to take one case, the sum of its length, width and depth not to exceed 160 cm (63 inches), weight limit 20 kilos along with a small day pack. Airlines permit only one cabin bag per person, in which personal items such as cameras, make-up etc. should be carried, though you need to check with your airline provider as to their specific requirements. Over-limit luggage cannot be carried. The supplier operates in a similar way and asks if you have over the above limit to please get in touch before your tour. Baggage is at &#39;owner&#39;s risk&#39;. Most airports, hotels &amp; hostels offer storage services for additional luggage.

&nbsp;

Important Information Exclusion of Liability

Whilst the supplier will take all reasonable steps to provide an enjoyable tour, it accepts no liability for any loss of enjoyment experienced by passengers due to circumstances beyond its control. The supplier further accepts no liability for any loss beyond its reasonable control and provides no warranties in addition to those set out under the The Fair Trading Act 1986, and nothing herein restricts any passenger from exercising their rights and remedies pursuant to law.

The optional tour excursions are not operated by, or at the direction of, or on behalf of the supplier, its employees or agents or any other persons or companies associated with the supplier. All Optional Activities are an additional cost to the tour price and by taking bookings for these tours, the supplier acts as each optional tour operator&#39;s agent.

These tours include the services of operators other than the supplier e.g. hoteliers, airlines and optional tour excursions, which are not under the direct control of the supplier, and whilst the supplier takes all reasonable care in selecting these operators, it cannot accept responsibility for those operators&#39; conduct or the conduct of their representative employees or agents or for any ramifications of that conduct.

On tours including activities such as trekking, swimming and snorkelling, passengers accept that degrees of risk are involved.

No passenger will be permitted to embark or continue on tour while their mental or physical condition is, in the opinion of any representative of the supplier, such as to render them incapable of caring for themselves, or whereby they become objectionable to other passengers, or they become a hazard to themselves or other passengers. The supplier will not be responsible for expenses resulting in such persons being precluded from completing the tour.

&nbsp;

Amendment Fees

There will be no charge to request a change of tour departure after the original booking has been confirmed, as long as it is done more than two months prior to the original tour departure date. Any further changes or amendments within 45 days of the tour departure, will incur a $500 NZD amendment fee (except when change is due to the supplier cancelling a tour departure). If there is any change to the price of the tour that you change your booking too, since the time of your original reservation, the new tour price will apply to the new reservation.

Itineraries

Itineraries are subject to alteration without notice and intended as a guide only. Alterations may come about due to road or weather conditions, strikes, public holidays, local festivals and cultural or other reasons. Due to the nature of the terrain and remote areas, weather fluctuations can adversely affect road conditions that may necessitate alterations to itinerary with little or no notice. Any additional expense incurred by the passenger is not the supplier responsibility. The supplier can give no guarantee as to the exact arrival and departure times for carriers and operators used by the supplier in the tour and the supplier will not be liable for failure of any other services or attractions beyond its control.

&nbsp;

Maximum numbers in shared dorms

The supplier included accommodation is dorm share (unless you are upgrading to a private room). While our maximum number of guests in a dorm is 6, on rare occasions up to 8 tour guests will share a dorm.

&nbsp;

Smoking

Government regulations forbid smoking in tourist coaches. The vast majority of hostels also are non-smoking, with some having designated smoking areas outside.

&nbsp;

Customer Feedback

If a problem occurs during your tour, then it is in your own best interests to advise your Tour Manager immediately so that steps can be taken to resolve the matter there and then. If you remain dissatisfied, any complaint must be made in writing to us within 30 days.

&nbsp;

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is your responsibility. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade strongly recommends you obtain travel insurance at the time you pay for your travel. Failure to obtain travel insurance is at your own risk. When obtaining travel insurance you must declare all pre-existing medical conditions and any adventurous activities, e.g. skiing, mountain biking, etc.

&nbsp;

Accident Compensation Commission (ACC)

If you are injured whilst in New Zealand, ACC may be able to help with the cost of the treatment and support you need whilst you&#39;re here. However, it is important to be aware that you cannot sue for personal injury - ACC replaces that right. Furthermore, ACC only covers treatment and rehabilitation costs whilst in New Zealand; it is not a replacement for travel insurance and does not cover illness, disrupted travel plans or emergency travel to get you back home.

&nbsp;

Your Responsibilities

The supplier does not tolerate any form of abuse, verbal or otherwise, of its personnel. Any person abusing or threatening the supplier personnel or associated representatives will automatically forfeit their right to onward travel.

There may be times when the supplier&rsquo;s personnel and/or representatives have to make a decision in the interests of safety. It is a condition of booking that you comply with the authority and decisions of the appointed representative of the supplier. If you do not comply with the said representative or are not compatible with the general enjoyment and well-being of members of the tour, the supplier reserves the right to refuse to allow you to continue the tour. In such a case the supplier will not be liable for any refund, compensation or any additional costs incurred by you. The supplier cannot accept liability for the behaviour of others on your tour nor if any facilities are curtailed as a result of their actions.

You agree that the supplier representatives may take on tour photographs and video recordings of you while you are a passenger. These may be used in the supplier&rsquo; brochures and/or advertising and publicity material (including social media) without obtaining any further consent or payment in respect of such photographs and/or films.

You agree that the supplier may use any text written in comments books, recorded in customer surveys or input to online forums, in brochures, websites and/or advertising and publicity material without obtaining any further consent or payment in respect of comments.

Fitness and Medicals

Some activities are strenuous of nature. Passengers should be of reasonable health and fitness and carry all required medication.&nbsp; The supplier must be advised of any prior medical conditions at time of booking.

Lift Pass Refunds - Snow Tours

Please make sure you have suitable travel insurance when on one of the supplier snow tours. Unfortunately, the supplier pre-books its lift passes and these are unable to be refunded if you injure yourself on tour.

	The supplier offers&rsquo; adventure, snow and mountain-biking tours across New Zealand that are designed for travellers that are young of heart and ready for a good time. To travel with us we require that you are at the minimum age limit of 18 years at the time of travel. Anyone over the age of 50 years is more than welcome on our tours but please be aware that a moderate level of fitness is required whilst on tour, so we do recommend that you are relatively fit, healthy and looking for the adventure of a lifetime.

	Each passenger is entitled to take one case, the sum of its length, width and depth not to exceed 160 cm (63 inches), weight limit 20 kilograms along with a small daypack. Airlines permit only one cabin bag per person, in which personal items such as cameras, make-up etc. should be carried, though you need to check with your airline provider as to their specific requirements. Over-limit luggage cannot be carried. The supplier operates in a similar way and asks if you have over the above limit to please get in touch before your tour. Baggage is at &#39;owner&#39;s risk&#39;. Most airports, hotels &amp; hostels offer storage services for additional luggage.

	Itineraries are subject to alteration without notice and intended as a guide only. Alterations may come about due to road or weather conditions, strikes, public holidays, local festivals and cultural or other reasons. Due to the nature of the terrain and remote areas, weather fluctuations can adversely affect road conditions that may necessitate alterations to itinerary with little or no notice. Any additional expense incurred by the passenger is not the supplier&#39;s responsibility. The supplier can give no guarantee as to the exact arrival and departure times for carriers and operators used by the supplier in the tour and the supplier will not be liable for the failure of any other services or attractions beyond its control.
