If you're looking for an adventure in a local Cambodian village where you get to go hunting, set traps, ride on ox carts, harvest produce and have a great time dancing to Khmer music with a whole village of passionate Khmers, then this Khmer home stay was made for you! About 30 km away from the hustle and bustle of Angkor City, you will be in a village called Peak Sneng which is surrounded by peace, serenity and tons of greenery! 'Peak' in Khmer means 'a high place' and 'Sneng' refers to the palanquin that's used to carry the Kings. Your host, Mean Nhean, is an experienced farmer and will teach you the ways of country living! If you’re not an animal-lover, this may not be the best retreat for you -- Nhean has plenty of pets, including dogs, cats, chickens, ducks and even pigs!
There are many activities you’ll be able to participate in while at the farm; from jungle trekking with your local guide, to making sling shots and going hunting, the options are endless. Rice farming, winemaking, swimming, etc. All you need is an eager sense of adventure and the willingness to try new things! Folks who choose to stay on the farm are encouraged to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, swimwear, a change of clothing and mosquito repellent.
This is a two day, one night program which includes pick-up, drop-off and a one night accommodation in a farm house. Guests have the option of staying another night for an additional fee. The farm is located in a fairly isolated area where there are mostly locals so you’ll really have an intimate and peaceful experience during your stay. You can choose to spend your time at the farm in a variety of ways -- there is no set itinerary! You can make slingshots, build traps, fish for your dinner and help with the rice farming. If you want to really know what it’s like to live like a local for a night, this is the experience for you. This is a working, farming family and they are extremely accommodating in making space in their home for you to stay. You’re sure to have a lovely time with them as you learn more about their ways and culture.
