We start our discovery tour of this amazing island a bright and early, with pick-up from your Hobart accommodation at 7am. Enjoy beautiful coastal views as we travel to the spectacular Tasman Peninsula, home of Australia’s highest sea cliffs. Stretch your legs and breathe in the salty morning air as we walk along the coastline, capturing the picture-perfect panoramas from Pirates Bay Lookout and marvelling at the spectacular rock formations of Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen.
Journey back in time as we visit Port Arthur. Rumoured to be surrounded by shark infested waters, this stunning peninsula was once one of the most terrifying prisons in Australia, and is now home to a fascinating open air museum. Built by the British in the style of Bentham’s Panopticon in 1833, this inescapable prison was home to some of the Empire’s worst convicts. Embark on a Harbour Cruise around the Isle of the Dead and wander through the ruins of this harrowing penitentiary as we uncover the incredible stories of those who lived and died on these grassy shores.
Lighten up the afternoon with a stop-in at the awesome Federation Chocolate Factory to sample the unique flavours of these local treats, before we head to the beautiful Richmond Village. Meander through the gorgeous old streets, enjoy a quick coffee and walk across the haunted Richmond Bridge as our amazing guides tell ghost stories and folk tales from years gone by. After a full day’s exploring, we head back to Tasmania’s capital city, stopping at a local lookout point to capture a perfect panorama of Hobart and Mt. Wellington rising off into the distance. This incredible tour comes to an end as we drop you back at your city accommodation at around 6pm.
